I can only imagine the nation are trying to win a World Cup hosting bid because there's no way their league is ever going to establish itself as a respected league without ending up in the UEFA competitions. Real Madrid have played a binder. Get the Saudi team to pay a world record fee and then get him for nothing. I wonder how much they are actually paying to the Saudi team behind the scenes.

They're trying to establish soft power, I dare say their ultimate goal is to get the Saudi clubs in to UEFA or extert control over the FIFA Club World Cup e.g. it's permantely played in Saudi Arabia. Even worse, they might try and take over the governing bodies of football. They are already in with FIFA, so could very well happen. For the club to make the bid, they must have word from Mbappe that he'd be willing to make the move for a year. Personally, not sure I can see it just before the Euros.. but it could easily happen. He's obviously off to Real Madrid for sure in 2024 regardless of what happens. Could easily see a scenario where he makes a January loan move to Newcastle depending on how the deal gets structured, which, would be a joke of course!
