I take it 'Talibans' was skipped then... can't imagine what would possibly be objectionable about a song with that title

Biography

Florence + The Machine’s grand art-pop cuts straight to the essence of raw emotion—no matter how bruised and bloody the result. The London band's 2009 debut album, Lungs, came stacked with rousing anthems like “Kiss with a Fist” and “Dog Days Are Over,” all propelled by pounding rhythms and orchestral strings and fuelled by a desire—or rather a need—for catharsis. “With songwriting, I really like to embody the things I was afraid of as a child. I like to kind of embody that voice,” singer-songwriter Florence Welch explained to Apple Music. “It’s like an exorcism almost.” That passion for delving into the darker outskirts of the mind infuses everything the band does, including bringing their cinematic sound to the screen with the 2016 release of short film The Odyssey, whose Dante-inspired scenes are strung together with heartache-drenched songs from 2015’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. That braveness also dictates not only Welch’s lyrics—which hit on topics as taboo as suicide and self-destruction (“The End of Love”) and as profound as simply letting go (the Grammy-nominated “Shake It Out”)—but also the way she delivers them, with the bewitching wail of a siren unleashed. - Spotify

Becky’s music is so basic and bland. Side Effects is just so boring to listen to.

It is way more engaging than Reannes music is and Becky has a really powerful voice

Thank you JustCarolHoney, someone who agrees with me although Rihanna's music is engaging for me.

Would have been nice for Dog Days Are Over to get a top 20 peak with its recent revival. Although it is great to hear it in the chart show. Such an anthem.

Biography

When Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas got their first taste of fame, many erroneously assumed the brothers were just another flash-in-the-pan boy band. What the world got instead was a multi-instrumental trio of talented songwriters with true lasting star power and a roster of canonical pop jams. The Jonases grew up in New Jersey, honing their musical skills in church before finding their way to the majors. Their 2006 debut, It's About Time, paired the boys’ innate talent with Jersey songwriting royalty: Fountains Of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger and Bon Jovi producer Desmond Child. The Jonas Brothers moved to a Disney label for their eponymous sophomore album in 2007 and started a run of appearances on Disney Channel shows, including the now-legendary Camp Rock, earning the JoBros teen fans around the world. They stoked their fiery fanbase with subsequent summer-lovin’ anthems “Burnin’ Up” and “Tonight”, but weren’t afraid to get personal with ballads like “A Little Bit Longer”, on which Nick opened up about living with diabetes. But growing up sharing the spotlight with siblings took its toll, so after 2009’s aptly titled Lines, Vines and Trying Times, the band split. They took a nearly 10-year break to work on outside projects—including Joe Jonas’ DNCE, which produced the catchy “Cake by the Ocean” single—and focus on being a family again. “We had a better relationship almost immediately following the breakup,” Nick Jonas told Apple Music. The group surprised fans in 2019 by dropping "Sucker", which zipped to No. 1 as fans welcomed their return. Older, wiser and happily coupled, the JoBros were back in the recording studio and in a much better place—all evident in that year's more mature album, Happiness Begins. - Apple Music

Biography

J Hus, a Londoner of Gambian heritage, made a major impact on the 2010s U.K. rap scene with his distinctive blend of dancehall, grime, Auto-Tune-laced R&B, and Afro-beats, often dubbed Afroswing. After establishing himself in 2015 with a series of freestyles and early singles, such as the heavily streamed "Lean & Bop," he broke through with his 2017 debut full-length, Common Sense, which hit the U.K. Top Ten and earned a shower of critical acclaim, garnering a Mercury Prize nomination, among other accolades. His 2020 follow-up, Big Conspiracy, was an even greater success, topping the U.K. album chart and featuring the Top Five single "Must Be." Momodou Jallow was born and raised in Stratford, London by his single mother. Influenced by 50 Cent, he began rapping, and went professional thanks to the help of two friends, who formed 2K Management. In 2015, they recorded a handful of demos and uploaded them to the Web, cut the single "So Paranoid" with London rapper MoStack, and uploaded a set of videos, including "Dem Boy Paigon." The latter was an instant street hit and quickly earned over a million views. J Hus then dropped his debut mixtape, The 15th Day, as well as the non-album single "Lean & Bop" (his first release on Sony imprint Black Butter Records), which was streamed several million times. J Hus began 2016 with the single "Friendly," and the three-song Playing Sports EP soon followed. The burgeoning star had a busy year in 2017, as he featured on the Nines track "High Roller" and Dave's hit "Samantha," as well as Stormzy's "Bad Boys" from his hugely successful Gang Signs & Prayer record. In May 2017, Hus released his debut LP, Common Sense, which featured guest spots from MoStack, Burna Boy, Tiggs Da Author, and MIST. The album was recognized with a Mercury Prize nomination that same year; in 2018, it won Best Album at the NME Awards, and garnered the rapper three Brit Award nominations. J Hus followed his breakthrough success with the 2018 EP Big Spang. Later that year, he was arrested for carrying a six-inch knife in public and was incarcerated for eight months. The day of his release in April 2019, he made a surprise appearance on-stage at a Drake show. Making up for lost time, J Hus quickly got to work, and by year's end had begun issuing singles from his next album. Released in early 2020, Big Conspiracy featured guest spots from Burna Boy, Koffee, and newcomer iceè tgm. - Apple Music

Anytime sweetie hun

I love Beckys music. I followed her from the voice or whatever show she was on, forgot now. Sure its the voice.

Anyway, I wanted to ask a favour but not sure where I whould post the thread. I wanted to ask for some new songs to listen to from some of you younger music listeners. I feel like I listen to the same legacy artists but never anything from newer artists. Which thread should I ask for suggestions in?

Thanks huns

Just Carol Honey ❤️

some of these lyrics in the first chorus sound like he picked up a thesaurus and picked a bunch of words from the page
