Biography

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (/biːˈjɒnseɪ/ bee-YON-say; née Knowles; born September 4, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Beyoncé performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of Destiny's Child, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Their hiatus saw the release of her debut album Dangerously in Love (2003), which featured the US Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy".

Following the 2006 disbanding of Destiny's Child, she released her second solo album, B'Day, which contained singles "Irreplaceable" and "Beautiful Liar". Beyoncé also starred in multiple films such as The Pink Panther (2006), Dreamgirls (2006), Obsessed (2009), and The Lion King (2019). Her marriage to Jay-Z and her portrayal of Etta James in Cadillac Records (2008) influenced her third album, I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008), which earned a record-setting six Grammy Awards in 2010. It spawned the successful singles "If I Were a Boy", "Single Ladies", and "Halo".

After splitting from her manager and father Mathew Knowles in 2010, Beyoncé released her musically diverse fourth album 4 in 2011. She later achieved universal acclaim for her sonically experimental visual albums, Beyoncé (2013) and Lemonade (2016), the latter of which was the world's best-selling album of 2016 and the most acclaimed album of her career, exploring themes of infidelity and womanism. In 2018, she released Everything Is Love, a collaborative album with her husband, Jay-Z, as the Carters. As a featured artist, Beyoncé topped the Billboard Hot 100 with the remixes of "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran in 2017 and "Savage" by Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. The same year, she released the musical film and visual album Black Is King to widespread acclaim.

Beyoncé is one of the world's best-selling recording artists, having sold over 120 million records worldwide as a solo artist by 2010. She is the first solo artist to have their first six studio albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200. Her success during the 2000s was recognized with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)'s Top Certified Artist of the Decade as well as Billboard's Top Female Artist of the Decade. Beyoncé's accolades include 28 Grammy Awards, 26 MTV Video Music Awards (including the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in 2014), 24 NAACP Image Awards, 31 BET Awards, and 17 Soul Train Music Awards; all of which are more than any other singer. In 2014, Billboard named her the highest-earning black musician of all time, while in 2020, she was included on Time's list of 100 women who defined the last century. - Wikipedia

Biography

When Austin Post uploaded “White Iverson” to social media in early 2015, he was 19, scrounging for ramen and sleeping in a friend’s closet. Plenty has changed, but Post’s appeal is more or less the same. No matter how Platinum the records go, he still has the air of an ordinary guy, a Crocs-and-Bud Light kid from the suburbs who stumbled backward into fame just by strumming what was in his heart. Post didn’t just look beyond genre, he broke it down, mixing the dark grandeur of trap with the anthemic release of classic rock and country. His signature tracks—“rockstar”, “Sunflower”, “Congratulations”—were both bleak and beautiful, spaced-out and mainstream, hip-hop but not quite. The bass boomed, the melodies soared, and there was Post in the middle, rap-singing his woes like a lonely prince self-exiled in the castle. At live shows, there were no dancers, no pyrotechnics, just Post, in a baggy football jersey with a cigarette in his hand, bringing 60,000 people into his bedroom: The pop star as moody teen.

Born in 1995 in Syracuse, New York, and raised in the suburbs of Dallas, Post grew up on a mix of country, classic rock and rap: In one well-circulated anecdote, young Post would get called into the living room to entertain Dad and friends with the dance to Terror Squad’s “Lean Back”. He turned a love for the video game Guitar Hero into a love of actual guitar, playing in a metal band during high school while also starting to explore hip-hop. “White Iverson” led to Post’s 2016 debut, Stoney; beerbongs & bentleys burrowed further into Post’s luxurious, messy melancholy, while 2019’s Hollywood’s Bleeding found him buttoning up and moving closer to the conventions of mainstream pop, all while retaining his peculiar touch. - Apple Music

Biography

Dave

Challenging power and perception with a free-spoken approach to rap, Dave has indelibly amplified hip-hop’s voice in Britain. Born David Orobosa Omoregie in Brixton, London in 1998, Dave suddenly implanted himself in the UK rap scene in 2016, first with the electric grime alliance “Thiago Silva” with AJ Tracey and then when Drake jumped on the remix of the velvety “Wanna Know” from Dave’s first EP, Six Paths. Rebuffing label advances to pursue his career independently, he demonstrated a self-reliant streak on releases such as his 2017 EP Game Over, whose “Question Time,” a scathing attack on Theresa May’s Conservative government, garnered him an Ivor Novello songwriting award. Dave’s full-length debut, the Mercury Prize winner Psychodrama, followed in 2019; epitomizing his achingly honest rap style, it laid bare personal vulnerabilities while challenging institutional racism in a provocative fashion rarely heard in British rap. The centerpiece of the lavishly soundscaped album was “Black,” a heart-wrenching portrait of the prejudice affronting Black lives. At the 2020 BRIT Awards, where Psychodrama won Album of the Year, Dave started his performance of “Black” by accompanying himself on piano and ended it by excoriating British Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a “real racist” and executing a perfect mic drop. - Apple Music

Central Cee

Central Cee is proving himself to be one of London’s most exciting emerging artists. Whilst only just turning 22, the rapper had already released a slew of solid tracks in addition to a powerful Next Up Freestyle on Mixtape Madness reflecting the rising star’s versatility and distinctive delivery. Building on this foundation, in 2020, Central Cee has gone from strength to strength dropping two singles ‘Day In A Life’ and ‘Molly’, with both tracks having racked up 8 million audio streams collectively. The heat surrounding Central Cee along with some killer short freestyle videos showcasing Central Cee’s lyrical abilities has led to him doubling his instagram following in a matter of months (currently 135K). He’s also gained support from various artists at home and abroad including a co-sign from US rapper Big Sean. Music has been an integral part of Central Cee’s upbringing, dating back to the tender age of 8. His eagerness to create his own musical legacy is deeply rooted within his earliest memories of absorbing the rich sounds of his dad's old school hip hop collection. - Spotify

Much lower than expected

Maybe they wont block kylie in the end

Oh I’m pleasantly surprised that the first Dave entry is so low - praying the next one isn’t too far away either!
she’s likely to end up in the 11-15 area I’d think

Omg, that’s brilliant, great news. Who would have thought Kylie could have a hit in 2023. Also, happy to see Madonna in the charts.

oh I was expecting uk rap to be a bit higher

I guess this means trojan horse isn’t top ten either? still hope for kylie?

It all comes down to how many fake cassettes downloads / CDs she has sold and shipped on Thursday. I expect anything between 10 and 13.

Biography

Back in the early 2010s, Durk Banks was just another rapper making his way in Chicago drill, a bleak, diamond-hard variant on trap that channeled the city’s culture of violence into unlikely anthems. Drill—and the label frenzy that surrounded it—faded, but Durk evolved, becoming one of the rare rappers able to make the leap from regional fame to the mainstream without diluting his street appeal. Painful, raw, but eerily pretty, Durk’s music can turn death threats into nursery rhymes (“Die Slow”) and coax shades of suffering from Auto-Tune that make even the slickest productions breathe with vulnerability (“Turn Myself In”). He doesn’t sugarcoat it. But you get the sense he isn’t putting on too much of a show, either. Born in Chicago in 1992, Durk started rapping in his teens, building local popularity through mixtapes before landing on Def Jam in 2012. His debut album, Remember My Name, came out in 2015, followed by Lil Durk 2X. Though he forged his reputation on drill, Durk proved unexpectedly versatile, a rapper who could slip between dead-eyed rawness and Auto-Tuned melodicism, and handle a love song (“India,” “My Beyoncé”) without making it sound like it was a mandate from the label. He left Def Jam in 2018, asserting his independence on a spate of mixtapes before joining Geffen Records with 2020’s Just Cause Y’all Waited 2. - Apple Music
