October 9, 20231 yr Since the 2016/17 season every team that has won the Premier League has gone on a 10+ game winning streak. It's the winning streak that has always made the difference in who wins the league as by the time that winning streak is over the particular team is top of the table where they end up staying until the end. There's no other team that is more likely than Manchester City to go on a winning streak like that which is why it's hard to see any other team lifting the trophy apart from them. Results like yesterday's are more towards them not having all their own way like they have done in the past, I'm sure no one wants to see a repeat of the 2017/18 season where they just bullied the whole league. So it's good to see them lose back-to-back matches in the league but looking at the bigger picture for them not to win the league they'd have to lose at least 8/9 games and for another team to go on a 10+ game winning streak which is unlikely to happen. Of course though it's only a matter of time until the titles start drying up for them but the question is how long until that happens.
October 10, 20231 yr Author Pep Guardiola said he "knows what happened" but would not go in to detail after Kyle Walker and Erling Haaland were involved in a heated exchange with members of Arsenal's backroom staff following Manchester City's 1-0 defeat. After the final whistle at Emirates Stadium, Walker and Haaland confronted Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover, who previously worked at City. "I know what happened but I won't say anything," Guardiola said with a smile. "They [Arsenal] know it," he added.
October 11, 20231 yr Author Former Everton winger Andros Townsend has signed for Luton Town until January. The ex-Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace forward left Goodison Park in the summer. The 32-year-old was close to joining Burnley before they withdrew their offer as they did not want to stifle the development of younger players. "I never thought I'd pull on the Luton shirt, so it's a huge honour to play again in the Premier League," he said. "I've seen where I can help this team and on the flipside the manager has seen where I can help - whether that's on the pitch, in the dressing room or on the training field - with my enthusiasm and experience," said Townsend. Townsend played 13 times for England, earning the last of his caps in 2016.
October 19, 20231 yr Author Newcastle United have confirmed midfielder Sandro Tonali is being investigated by the Italian Prosecutor's Office and the Italian football federation in relation to alleged illegal betting activity. The 23-year-old was recently withdrawn from Italy's training camp. Newcastle say Tonali is co-operating with the enquiry. "He and his family will continue to receive the club's full support," the club added in a statement. "Due to this ongoing process, Sandro and Newcastle United are unable to offer further comment at this time."
October 26, 20231 yr Author Newcastle and Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali has been banned for 10 months by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) for breaching betting rules. The 23-year-old will not be eligible to play again until August and will be unavailable to feature at Euro 2024 next summer should Italy qualify. Tonali joined Newcastle from AC Milan in July for £55m.
October 26, 20231 yr Well that turned out to be an unmitigated disaster of a signing  In other news this year will see the first Christmas Eve fixture since 1995. Always thinking of the fans our good ol' prem! Edited October 26, 20231 yr by Dobbo
October 26, 20231 yr Christmas Eve is probably the worst day to travel away for a match, it's quite an early kick off as well to make matters worse. I'll be surprised if Chelsea get anything from that match.
October 26, 20231 yr Thoughts on Everton potentially facing a 12-point deduction? I feel that would definitely knock them out of the PL if it goes ahead.
October 27, 20231 yr Apparently it's because of Financial Fair Play breaches and has been recommended by the Premier League themselves. If that is true and it really has been recommend by the league then it would be very likely to happen. They would stand no chance of surviving relegation so I hope it does happen, Everton do not make the league better and they've been playing with fire for years anyway near the relegation zone.
November 5, 20231 yr Arteta and the Arsenal camp can cry all they want but are noticeably quiet when they get all the decisions (like Garnacho offside against in our game vs them) Should have been down to 10 already from that crazy Havertz tackle.
November 5, 20231 yr Yeah they were robbed but I don't feel sorry for them. During his post match rant Arteta at one point said "they lost 3 points" & "the league is too hard". Hearing him say something like that is confirmation that they wont win the league again this season. A lot of people said that they would win it after they beat Man City but if their manager thinks that the Premier League is too hard then they're not gonna have a chance of winning it. I don't think Arsene Wenger during his three title winning seasons ever would have said something like that or any of the other managers who have won it. After 10 matches played they finally lose for the first time and Arteta is acting as if it's the end of the world.
November 6, 20231 yr What a game! Superb entertainment. Spurs being totally Spursy again (although they did play really well with 9 men).
November 7, 20231 yr Just watched the highlights - certainly seemed like a wild game! A goal counted as offside just before a red card and a penalty is quite something to happen in a matter of seconds.
November 10, 20231 yr I think it's a bit of a joke that Postecoglou has won the first 3 manager of the month awards this season.
November 10, 20231 yr I think it's understandable as Tottenham had the best form from August through to October. He definitely won't win it for November though and with Maddison being injured for the next few months Ange probably won't win it again this season.
November 10, 20231 yr Yeh I was think Maddison is due a 3 month injury he gets every year - will def hurt Spurs as he’s been brilliant this year so far!
