Posted June 19, 20231 yr OQCQnARnKbc UK Chart Run: 1-1-2-5-8-11-19-22-26-33-37-38-44-55-73-X-66 (16 weeks) Just (but in essence, comfortably) missing out on a spot on the podium are British production duo Shanks & Bigfoot. The pair had already scored a top 20 hit the previous year under their old moniker Doolally before their first release under S&B debuted at #1 after months of extensive club play, becoming the first ever garage #1 single. The success led them to re-releasing their Doolally single where it improved to becoming a top 10 single. The duo would only score one more hit in 2000 before splitting the following year. Top 3 time!
June 19, 20231 yr ATB for me still! Which will win here no doubt with the unexpected Britney votes leading right now.
June 19, 20231 yr one of the best pop songs in the history of music (britney) vs one of the best, if not the best, dance songs ever (atb) vs a shitty europop song that should have left on round 1 (eiffel 69) easy choice ;D
June 19, 20231 yr LMAO This is the easiest choice ever (but worried about split voting) BOMT is one of the greatest songs in the history of music. The other 2 are not (although I can bop to them and like them - BOMT is just on a completely different level.)
June 19, 20231 yr Pah! Britney is far and away the best song here. I'm Blue is good enough to be revamped and a hit again. Ive gone for the one about coming before 9-ish with the riff repeated a lot and nothing much else. I havent heard it in years so just played it to see if my faulty memory had missed summat. Nah, I havent, sorry. 10ish notes repeated annoyingly and a woman obviously in the middle getting shagged repeatedly saying the same thing sporadically. If I was a music producer teacher they would get a "Must Try Harder" :teresa:

Ngl this made me chuckle as one of the guilty parties to vote out an iconic pop song! :kink:
June 19, 20231 yr All three are iconic and influential in their own way. Baby One More Time… is of course one of the best pop songs of all-time, and left behind a legacy of soundalike pop that shaped music for the next 3 years or so, plus THAT video and the birth of an icon. 9PM (Till I Come) is far more than 10 notes and some sexual innuendo, it’s one of the most influential and greatest dance songs ever, the first UK trance No.1, which was a monumental achievement, stood out with its bendy synth and is still highly influential to this day - check the new Peggy Gou song which is about to be huge. Blue (Da Ba Dee) is one of the best Europop songs ever, with an incredible riff that has been sampled or interpolated time and time again since it’s release, from artists ranging from Flo Rida to Ava Max. It was arguably the second huge vocoder hit after Believe, but used it on an Italo disco style Europop production with lyrics that are far deeper than your average Euro fluff. 10/10 songs all three of them. They’ve made it this far for that reason and all deserve their place.
June 19, 20231 yr The Britney fans won't be happy  (It's my fave here obvs but I have childhood nostalgia with 'Blue (Da Ba Dee)' and 'Move Your Body' by E65!).
