With three entries here it really was Basshunter who owned the year, starting out with multi-week number one hit 'Now You're Gone' and following that up with number two 'All I Ever Wanted' and a further top 20 'Angel In The Night'. It was a big year for Eurodance with Basshunter as well as Sash, Scooter and September. Meanwhile the biggest dance hit of the year belonged to Dizzee Rascal with the song that turned him into a huge name, 'Dance Wiv Me' in collaboration with Calvin Harris. Eric Prydz scored his final hit with 'Pjanoo', bassline made a resurgence with H "Two" O and Platnum, electro house made its impact with Guru Josh Project and Utah Saints (both remixes of 90s hits), electronic act Hot Chip had a hit and Mint Royale's 'Singin In The Rain' had a re-release following its usage on Britain's Got Talent, going to number one.

2009 Results

 

A big win for Calvin Harris here perhaps unsurprisingly (although he finished 6th last time this was run), with the much-loved David Guetta track of the era finishing a distant second. Very pleasing also to see YYYs qualify, although the song failed to reach the UK chart it gained a big following in subsequent years. The beautiful Chicane rework of Poppiholla and the last big hit for The Prodigy round out the qualifiers.
