^^ Agree, I don’t think BMG will want to confuse things with the impact date a few weeks away in the US and the fact PP has started to make some ground in Europe (Holland, Belgium etc.,).
The next single may suffer the same fate as in your eyes and have its release delayed due to the current song holding on stronger than expected. If that does happen it will only help prolong the tension era.
Regarding Hold on to Now, two versions have leaked. One version is 3:10 and the other is 4:02. This seems to suggest single version and album version, which may give more credence that Hold on to Now is going to be the next single.

I think Hold On To Now may come early August and then Tension the week before the album

To get Kylie some streaming longevity in charts BMG need 3/4 songs on multiple stable playlists

This and kylie never usually releasing the title track as a single makes me think hold onto now is the next single.

Possibly these could have been from when they were planning ‘Hold On to Now’ as the lead single?

I could definitely see the record company initially lining it up to be the second single after pushing it back from the lead, but I think they would be fools to not go with ‘Tension’ given its reaction online.

To be fair, a lot of hyperbole tends to be thrown around + while I think the second single might initially perform better than her usual second singles, I feel like Padam Padam might overshadow it (especially if it starts taking off in other markets) so it might actually be a wiser idea to go with a "typical Kylie single" for #2 and then try a bigger push for single #3 when Padam Padam is starting to properly die down.

JMHO.

Second single is likely to get all the album promo (I’m sure she’ll bag a Graham Norton Show performance which usually starts around the same time the album is released), I think it has the potential to do well in the UK and there’s no reason they can’t keep pushing ‘Padam Padam’ elsewhere in the world at the same time.

They might want a more “singing” song to promote the album with though, something that would lend itself well to acoustic performances etc. and neither ‘Padam’ or ‘Tension’ are suitable for that.

I just hope the 2nd single isn't a misfire and lose momentum which might make it harder for tension to do well of it ends up as third single.
Maybe having 'Hold on to Now' in mid-August and pushing 'Tension' in conjunction with the album's release could be a good strategy?

It'll have to do, but I fear Hold On To Now will turn off a lot of the playlists/radio support gained with Padam, which might mean Tension doesn't have as much of a chance of bursting into the top 30 (which I'm fairly sure it would have done!)

Thank you for sharing as it gave me the opportunity to hear the song for the first time.

I really like the song very much but as a single I don't think it will appeal outside the Kylie fan base.

Love that Kylie added thus into the set - it’s obviously a song that means a lot to her and the one she wanted to kick the campaign off with, sounds epic live.
I really hope hold onto now is a single. It’s the best thing by far that I’ve heard from this era.
This sounds wonderfully euphoric and rousing!

I agree, the tension era just gets better and better, hold onto now has that more traditional kylie sound with a 2023 feel to it aswell, this is very instant for me as was tension and padam padam.
