July 12, 20233 yr I think Adele would've crossed 1 million in the US had the album been more "streaming friendly" and they went a bit more crazy with format options. 12 tracks, with half of them being 5 minutes or longer, hurt her on the streaming front. Had she released a 15 track album with most songs being 3-4 minutes, would've done much better in streaming. I also wonder how much the pandemic was effecting the potential sales as well? Both of Taylor's Folklore & Evermore would've been 1 million+ opening weeks if it wasn't for the pandemicI feel. Even in late 2021 there was still issues with supply chains etc which may have slightly dulled Adele's opening a bit. The Vegas situation definitely destroyed the era though. They were likely going to push another single or two but the era just went dead silent and they then released the video for "I Drink Wine" many months later and let the era fizzle out. Her Vegas residency has been massively successful though and is going through its second leg. So I feel like the situation has been made up for? I'm interested to see how Adele's next era goes and whether the label may try to influence the album to be a bit more streaming friendly. People thought Taylor was in diminishing returned with Lover/Folklore/Evermore but she has been on the up and up and hit a new peak with Midnights. Of course Taylor's situation is exceptional, but Adele's career has been full of those moments as well. Adele's label lost millions on all of her unsold vinyls! They also should have gone for Can I ... Get It? For thrbfirst song, instead of Take It Easy.

July 13, 20233 yr Hoping enchanted just peeps it to the post, the streams on Wednesday were 18k ahead so that should make it up if the algorithms works correctly for Thursday. Also imagine albeit extremely little impact enchanted was ahead ever so slightly on Wednesday for Amazon and apple, as wel as higher on iTunes. Will be very close but it’s been closing the gap so if it loses out it must be within 100 sales
