What opening numbers are you expecting for Tension, with it having a big hit to its name do you think that will benefit sales? Previous opening salescare:

048,032 Golden

054,905 Disco.

31,980 Step Back in Time.

Also are you expecting Tension to claim Kylies 9th UK album Number 1?

Think she's easily gonna get 75k+ with this!

Agreed…I’m preparing for release week mania and being close to the action at all times in case of surprise signed items….though maybe if it’s an obvious done deal it won’t be as frantic. One can hope.

Knowing BMG, I wouldn't put it past them to move the date back a week if by chance a bigger act announced their album that week 😅

But I think it should be a home run.

Judging by everything so far, Tension will achieve silver certification in its first week, gold in a month time.

Hopefully platinum in a year!

Am I too optimistic here?

Was just thinking about this the other day.

I think sales will be big but I don’t want to be disappointed if they are in line with what we have seen previously, the market is changing all the time and we don’t have a chart battle (yet!) this time.

I do think streaming will be really strong too and overall will become her biggest BMG album yet.

I think it'll be the biggest seller of her BMG career so far. They'll know the pre-order amounts already and have all the tricks ready for release week.

Yep. I think the high download sales show that she's won back a lot of lapsed 35+ fans with Padam Padam and those still buy albums.

I am hopeful this will be her biggest opening since joining BMG but tge album market can be unpredictable too but I do think silver on week q is very possible. Likewise I so so want tension to become her 9th number 1 album. I'd love an Irish number 1 aswell but I don't have high hopes but top 5 will happen. Fever was her last number 1 here.
I would expect Tension to be her highest selling BMG album to date in week 1 and in total really. I would predict over 60k. Disco did incredibly well considering we were in lockdown at the time and this should do better on the back of the success of padam padam but it will also depend on the reaction to single 2.

Yes if single 2 can do something i think the album will really benefit from it along with the success of padam padam.

I remember the battle between Kylie and Little Mix helped with Disco's sales?

I think the most accurate benchmark is Pink's album sales. Trustfall included two sizable hits and it debuted with 37,570 which was still 11k less than Hurts 2B Human in 2019. But it can go either way.

The battle with Little Mix definitely helped both albums sell more on their debut week as both were really pushing for the number 1.
I’d be pretty shocked if Kylie opened with similar sales as P!nk did. I assume Kylie has more formats than P!nk did and certainly Kylie has a fanbase more likely to purchase all formats. The chart battle last time probably did help sales last time but I still reckon Kylie will be on track to do even better with this album. I’d say it could go Silver on first week.

Kylie will release more formats than P!nk so i couldn't see Kylie not selling more than P!nk did and thats not to take away from P!nk as im a fan and really like her trustfall album.

There's no way it will open with less than 40k. If anything, 'Golden' is an indicator with 48k sold. That was without the inflation of the chart battle and would probably be a rough indicator of how much DISCO would sell without a chart battle and pushed forward cassettes. Also it had a minor hit 'Dancing'.

I'd say 50k+ is a given. Maybe 60-70k? Like Tommie said, this could sell more physical copies to the GP now, judging by the popularity of 'Padam' in iTunes.
