It would be nice to think there could be a similar amount of interest and goodwill for Kylie with the album's second single when that comes along but i'm not holding my breath.

If rasio one gets on bosrd straight away, and capital and playleests, then yes. Othetwise, no

impressive for this to now be her highest peaking hit from 'Lover', it is clearly better than Me/YNTCD anyhow so well deserved I guess
Now the joint highest peaking song from Lover along with 'ME!'

The latter should have peaked about 62 places lower. :kink:

I genuinely have no idea why she never released 'Cruel Summer' as a single. I really do think it could've performed much better on the charts then the likes of 'You Need To Calm Down' or 'Lover'

apparently she was going to in summer 2020 but a little thing called Covid happened so it got cancelled

I genuinely have no idea why she never released 'Cruel Summer' as a single. I really do think it could've performed much better on the charts then the likes of 'You Need To Calm Down' or 'Lover'

I mean, it now has.

Should've been the lead single.

So enchanted got 15 in 2 minds glad enchanted had its moment but really wanted to see mine outpeak the original version

I can see you just missing top 5 still a good result it's definitely my favourite from the album atm

Cruel summer top 3 matching ME! As highest charting lover track could it outpeak it in future

Biography

A few weeks after Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” became the biggest song in the world, Saturday Night Live ran a sketch that featured a bunch of middle-aged guys shooting pool in a dive bar. One puts “drivers license” on the jukebox. Another complains that it just sounds like a teenage girl sitting alone at a piano. By the end of their discourse, they’re all in tears, singing along. “I was driving around my neighborhood listening to really sad songs, like, crying in the car,” Rodrigo told Apple Music. “And I got home and I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll write a song about this: crying in the car.’” Rodrigo had tapped into a universal experience: The middle-aged guys weren’t teenage girls, but they’d also driven around listening to sad songs.

Rodrigo was just 17 when the song came out, but she had been getting ready for years. Born in Temecula, California, in 2003, she started lessons in piano, voice, and acting as a child, and went on to star in Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. But, really, what could prepare you for breaking the global single-week streaming record for a female artist? Especially on your first single? And getting a nod from Taylor Swift in the meantime? (Along with “drivers license” winning the Apple Music Award for Top Song of the Year in 2021, Rodrigo’s debut LP, SOUR, was the Top Album of the Year and Rodrigo herself was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year.)

Like Swift—and Lorde, too—Rodrigo has a knack for conjuring big feelings through small details: an ex singing along to their Billy Joel with his new love (“deja vu”), reading his self-help books “so you’d think that I was smart” (“enough for you”). Her content is all-caps, but her delivery is lowercase, lacing bedroom pop with a vulnerability and anger rare for teen pop: “Where’s my f***ing teenage dream?” she wonders on “brutal.” “I’m the biggest emo drama queen,” Rodrigo tells Apple Music. Maybe. But the key to letting it out is keeping it together. - Apple Music

Biography

Dave

Challenging power and perception with a free-spoken approach to rap, Dave has indelibly amplified hip-hop’s voice in Britain. Born David Orobosa Omoregie in Brixton, London in 1998, Dave suddenly implanted himself in the UK rap scene in 2016, first with the electric grime alliance “Thiago Silva” with AJ Tracey and then when Drake jumped on the remix of the velvety “Wanna Know” from Dave’s first EP, Six Paths. Rebuffing label advances to pursue his career independently, he demonstrated a self-reliant streak on releases such as his 2017 EP Game Over, whose “Question Time,” a scathing attack on Theresa May’s Conservative government, garnered him an Ivor Novello songwriting award. Dave’s full-length debut, the Mercury Prize winner Psychodrama, followed in 2019; epitomizing his achingly honest rap style, it laid bare personal vulnerabilities while challenging institutional racism in a provocative fashion rarely heard in British rap. The centerpiece of the lavishly soundscaped album was “Black,” a heart-wrenching portrait of the prejudice affronting Black lives. At the 2020 BRIT Awards, where Psychodrama won Album of the Year, Dave started his performance of “Black” by accompanying himself on piano and ended it by excoriating British Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a “real racist” and executing a perfect mic drop. - Apple Music

Central Cee

Central Cee is proving himself to be one of London’s most exciting emerging artists. Whilst only just turning 22, the rapper had already released a slew of solid tracks in addition to a powerful Next Up Freestyle on Mixtape Madness reflecting the rising star’s versatility and distinctive delivery. Building on this foundation, in 2020, Central Cee has gone from strength to strength dropping two singles ‘Day In A Life’ and ‘Molly’, with both tracks having racked up 8 million audio streams collectively. The heat surrounding Central Cee along with some killer short freestyle videos showcasing Central Cee’s lyrical abilities has led to him doubling his instagram following in a matter of months (currently 135K). He’s also gained support from various artists at home and abroad including a co-sign from US rapper Big Sean. Music has been an integral part of Central Cee’s upbringing, dating back to the tender age of 8. His eagerness to create his own musical legacy is deeply rooted within his earliest memories of absorbing the rich sounds of his dad's old school hip hop collection. - Spotify

I could see it reaching #1 if a remix dropped.

End of the road for this then? I don't think Vampire will be number 1.

I Can See You :cheeseblock:

and CRUEL SUMMER TOP 3!!!! WHAT A SMASHHHHH :cheeseblock::cheeseblock::cheeseblock::cheeseblock::cheeseblock:

Should've been the lead single.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly

It would be great to see Vampire stay at #2 for a few more weeks (I know #1 is unlikely). I really enjoyed Sprinter when it came out but this deserves number one a lot more at this stage.

Has Taylor had the most hits since the introduction of ACR, or is that Ed, or a rapper with lots of features?

Feels like a huge amount of different hits she's had since 2017.

forgot to put these earlier

Biography

Jax Jones

When Duke Dumont topped the UK charts with his single “I Got U” in 2014, many listeners may have assumed that featured artist Jax Jones was the singer. In fact, Jones (born Timucin Aluo in 1987) was a co-writer and producer on the song, and its No. 1 position marked his auspicious debut. Raised in London by a Turkish father, a Malaysian mother and a Nigerian stepfather, the Apple Music Up Next alum grew up on a mix of American hip-hop, UK dance and African music, which might help to explain the mix of styles that swirls through his own tracks: His youthful fondness for Prince shows through in funk-infused cuts like 2015’s “Ocean Drive”, while Afro-Caribbean accents bubble up in 2018’s “Ring Ring”, a lilting tropical-house collaboration with Mabel and Rich the Kid. Though his beats generally follow the punchy cadence of deep-diving future house, he brings a hip-hop producer’s collage sensibility to the mixing desk: Many of his productions slyly interpolate other songs. “You Don’t Know Me”, from 2016, is built around the slinky hook of M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade’s 2005 anthem “Body Language”, while “I Got U” contains a choice bit of Whitney Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love”. Whether on his own productions or his remixes for Ellie Goulding, Charli XCX and Missy Elliott, Jones’ habitual blend of pop polish and house groove is unmistakable. “I just thought I'd try it,” he told Apple Music about his relationship to dance music. “House is a collage of everything the creator is. If you love hip-hop, you can chuck that in there. If you love rock, you can chuck that in there too. It took a long time, but now it makes a lot of sense. It’s sample-based and also musical, so it's a very natural fit. Life is beautiful like that. They say you have to, like, get rid of yourself to go to the next level. And I think that’s what happened.” - Apple Music

Fireboy DML

Fireboy DML is a Nigerian singer-songwriter whose music fuses Afropop, R&B, and soul. Born Adedamola Adefolahan, he grew up singing in church, started making music while at university, and eventually was signed by Nigerian rapper Olamide’s independent label, YBNL Nation. “Jealous,” his 2018 breakthrough single, won Listeners’ Choice honors at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, presented by a popular African music TV channel. Within three days of its release, Fireboy DML’s 2019 debut album, Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps, garnered more than six million streams on a single music service. In July 2020, his “New York City Girl” reached No. 11 on Billboard’s Top Triller Global chart, and a month later, “Eli” peaked at No. 7 on the same chart. His sophomore album, APOLLO—featuring guest turns by American rapper D Smoke and Nigerian singer Wande Coal—rose to No. 14 on Billboard’s World Albums chart in 2020. - Apple Music

Biography

“We’re the ones that are pushing this boundary,” D-Block Europe’s Young Adz told Apple Music. “People who are signing urban music over here—they call it urban, we call it pop in the streets—that ain’t street music. We’re doing street, UK, wavy music, front-lining it.” They might not consider themselves pop, but by the most literal definition, DBE are just that. Chart positions, sold-out arenas and a nomination for the 2020 BRIT Award for British Group (before they’d even released a debut album) all make them one of UK rap’s most popular acts. D-Block Europe was originally a collective that called upon various London MCs, but Adz and childhood friend Dirtbike LB have emerged as both the engine room and executive board of the operation. They met at Sedgehill School in South London, where Adz was dropping mixtapes from the age of 13. He signed an ultimately fruitless major-label deal at 15 before coming under the patronage of NY rap heavyweight Jadakiss, who offered features, support slots and license to use The LOX’s D-Block Records name. With a series of self-released singles and mixtapes, Young Adz and Dirtbike LB took their place at UK rap’s top table during the late 2010s. Leavening trap’s chilly textures and portraits of road life with sticky Auto-Tuned hooks, their music is notable for its nimble wordplay and candour. While D-Block quickly gathered notoriety for their unfiltered bedroom braggadocio (“Kitchen Kings”), their willingness to open up about mental health and therapy (“Prescription Drugs”) has made them a standout presence in UK rap. It’s all been done independently by the industrious duo (63 new tracks released across three mixtapes during 2019 alone). They’ve continuously waved away offers from labels, confident that no one can guide their career as well as they can. Every award, Top 5 release or filled arena only strengthens their self-belief. “When you see Messi kick ball, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” said Young Adz. “Sometimes, the people have to choose you because they’re like, ‘We ain’t never going to see this again—from their sounds, from what they talk about.’ Our personalities shine through our music. We’re bigger personalities than rappers.” - Apple Music
