In the 20+ years I've been meticulously following Kylie's career, 'All The Lovers' and 'Padam Padam' feel like the two singles which transcended beyond her core fanbase and made a big wider impact.

'All The Lovers' really felt like a huge moment for her, but would you say 'Padam's impact has now surpassed it?

No way!

All The Lovers was EVERYWHERE - in gyms, in stadiums, in adverts and X Factors, and it was played on radio q and capital. Padam Padam did well in GALVANIZING her base and demographics, but it hasn't exactly reached the same wider audiences as ATL.

I think it's way too soon to compare. But in terms of the short-term I can't remember a Kylie single hitting so many areas in the media since 'Head'.

Im the same i think its far to soon, all the lovers has stood the test of time and rightly so but padam padam is to new to see how people will remember it in years to come.

Great topic/question Jessie Where!

I think each of the songs ATL, PP (and I'm adding CGYOOMH) served different purposes in Kylie's career. To an extent, I think of a PP more as a combo of CGYOOMH and Spinning Around: in the sense that

a) it put Kylie back in the public eye in the new Insta/tiktok era (much like SA brought her name back in the pop radar)

b) It showed the current 2023 world that Kylie's trademark about creating a lush catchy earworm pop song is still very much there (like Head)

But again, the market landscape is so different the way I see this is: if PP were released in 2010 instead of today, it would've been way bigger than ATL, almost a CGYOOMH part 2.

I agree padam padam is like mixture of spinning around and head in terms of career impact. Both these tracks play such a huge part in her career and padam padam is the same it's just brought attention to kylie that has lapsed for a long time. All the lovers had huge cross over during its time and possibly a larger cross over audience than spinning around. All these songs have all played an important part in her career.
It’s difficult to tell. I guess how well the album and next singles perform will give an indication of its impact longer term.

Padam…All The Lovers was a success but not a surprise as she was still played on Radio 1 etc.

Padam has had to overcome way more barriers to crossover.

I think at the time Kylie was still doing ok in the charts when she released all the lovers and was her last big hit until padam padam came along and due to there been such a long gap since she had a proper hit padam padam had more impact that way. It was also kylies first real hit in the streaming era.

I feel like the way it's been talked about and ingrained itself in popular culture is on a whole different level, although I know comparing charts is futile as it was an entirely different climate 13 years ago.

(Gosh, saying 13 years ago is scary!)

The climate is so different in the period between both releases, i think what could be interesting is how things works out with the releases after padam padam, then we will see it have they finally figured out a way to break Kylie into the streaming market.

Padam Padam has a gimmick element, All the Lovers was viewed more strongly as a euphoric pop song that has helped it become a Kylie classic.

Padam Padam is very fitting for its time and fits perfectly into a wide range of platforms needed in today's climate including memes, TikTok etc.

Padam Padam is tracking to have a longer chart life than all the singles put together since the release of All The Lovers.

I sort of get what you mean with regards to 'Padam' having a gimmick element, although I'm not sure that was necessarily the intention when they recorded it.
I don't believe it was the intention either, the extremely catchy chorus opened up areas leading to some gimmick elements.
ATL didn’t feel as much as a ‘moment’ as PP for me personally - that the time of ATL she was still having hit singles, the lasting legacy of the song has been huge but PP has established her again as a singles selling artist.

Yeah, I have to say I agree with the above. They feel very different moments to me. ALT was released after a string of big hits, in fact I'd say it could have done slightly better given how big she was at the time, even though it's still a big hit for her.

Padam feels more like a Head/Spinning moment (Not as big guaranteed), but it feels like a comeback, and is pretty much her debut in terms of doing well in streaming.

Padam Padam for me.

Already overtaken the Spotify Worldwide streams and probably download sales too.

All the lovers was a continuation of success but padam padam has that I'm back kinda feel about but more to the wider public rather than fans.

As a song all the lovers is far above padam padam for me.
