Jimmy Fallon is tonight. I think it's just an interview to promote Dance The Night for the Oscars

Ok honest opinion,

 

Do you think this should have waited till January?!!

 

I'm kinda sad to see this not smashing as I originally thought it was going to and also considering the fact that Dance The Night is still smashing and being talked much more than this including Dua herself (all the nominations it's getting so far plus with Oscars nominees still coming), it seems it's stealing the spotlight from Houdini!!!

 

What are your thoughts?

The release date was ok - it has been a hit and is still on SCR when the Christmas songs are gone and thus can get a decent chart run. She should get a performance slot at the Grammys and debut a new single there. It'll be fine in the long run for her I think.

January would've been stronger, but it might still go back to top 10 in Jan if she can add promo for it. Dropping it now means she gets to drop single #2 end Jan/early Feb and promo it at the Brits and any other award shows around that time though, so that should stabilise the era unless her team drops the ball.

Houdini will return to the Top 10 in January.

I'm not as convinced.

Low top 10 is possible, but it is currently the 18th most streamed non-Xmas song on Spotify so it'll be tough. It depends on which songs return to SCR after Xmas.
