Given ROL is viewed by Kylie fans as one of her all time best (me included, best 4 singles from a pop album ever) - if ROL were to be re-released (a la Impossible Princess), would it outpeak its original #9?

I believe it would as album sales are low. All the record label has to do is put out a bunch of CDs, Vinyls, etc. and have Kylie endorse it herself.... all it would need is about 10K copies to score a top 5 on a quiet week.

I think it would be very achievable.

Look at the success of Impossible Princess.

Oooh, I'm not too sure. I feel like a big draw for the Impossible Princess release was that it was such a highly sought after item being released on vinyl for the first time.
Rhythm of Love with a bonus cd, vinyl and cassette released as signed copies could put up a good fight.
Maybe in the right/quiet week but I wouldn’t think it would be a given - there was years of pent up demand for IP and it’s regarded as up there by many as her best/most underrated work and still sounds current now whereas ROL is very much of its time.
Ya its hard to know, i think if they were to do it they would need to make it standout so that the fans would get behind it just like they did with IP, but as you said with IP there was years of waiting for it to actually happen.

In 5 years time it'll be the 40th anniversary of her 1st album, would be interesting if she did a Kylie's version series of re-records of her albums to mark it a la Taylor Swift. (Including each era's b-sides)

Maybe some name producers for the singles (Peggy, Purple disco) & then her usual crew (Biffco, Steve Anderson) for the rest.

Issue on vinyl etc

Saying that we're 35 years in now & she's bagged another Top 10 so who knows how far she can go on with original stuff.

This.

Plus I think that Impossible Princess appeals to some people who wouldn't go near a ROL re-release (for example me!)

I’d kill for an ROL re-release esp if we get a few unreleased tracks and new liner notes

We’ve had it - it was a stunning collection across standard CD, CD and DVD Boxset and Picture Disc Boxset.

I think the 'Impossible Princess' re-issue opened up the possibilities of what could happen with future re-issues, but I do agree that this album was special for the fact it was the first time it was released on vinyl and fans have been dreaming for one for years, plus it's also had that underdog status and I think people really wanted it to give it its flowers after all this time. Even though fans agree 'Rhythm of Love' deserved better than a #9 peak, I can't seem them rallying together to get it a new peak in quite the same way they were motivated to with 'Impossible Princess'.

Not that I think it's impossible, I think maybe it would require something more. I doubt there's anything left in the vaults in the way of unreleased songs, but maybe they could do some present day remixes/reimaginings on a bonus vinyl?

The reissue from 2016 didn’t even make T75 so I don’t think it would outpeak the original position without major promotion.
Not sure, but I wish they'd reissue a standard vinyl version cos picture discs sound like trash.

I’ve always said it - an artist of Kylie’s caliber should have her albums readily available on standard vinyl rather than sporadic limited edition releases!

I completely agree and i hope its something that happens sooner rather than later, there are artists far less successful that have their albums readily available.
