July 21, 20231 yr I was looking at his wiki page just three days ago as I was listening to his single 'The Good Life' for my Record Of The Week 60 Years Ago thread and noticed that he was 96 years old. RIP I literally looked at his wiki last night to see how old he was as I was, forgive me, surprised he was still alive. Away from his collabs with Gaga, I loved his song with Amy Winehouse. He had a very special relationship with both ladies. I absolutely adore this behind the scenes video: QCIrtOR0aKc

July 24, 20231 yr A bench in Central Park that bears the late Tony Bennett's name has transformed into a memorial for the legendary crooner from Queens. Bennett died Friday at the age of 96, and over the weekend the singer's favorite park bench on Center Drive near Central Park South and West 59th Street was turned into a memorial by New York City carriage drivers and other park-goers. The specific bench was dedicated to Bennet in 2021 for his 95th birthday. "Tony Bennett — American Singer — In honor of his 95th birthday, August 3 RD, 2021 — 'Nature is the boss' — T.B." the plaque reads. Bennett provided the quote about nature in a 2015 New York Times article that outlines the legendary singer's love of watercolor painting on the Central Park bench. “I live in the city,” he said at the time, “but when I enter the park I’m in the forest.” Bennett lived on Central Park South for a quarter-century. https://patch.com/new-york/upper-west-side-...tral-park-bench
July 25, 20231 yr @1683838337143181320 While this could be just a made up thing, it would also be very natural from her.
July 31, 20231 yr Bless her. He really helped her and I'm so grateful for him and the influence he's had on her.
July 31, 20231 yr Too right he helped her. I genuinely don't think she'd be in the place she is now without him. In her darkest moments he gave her light
August 1, 20231 yr Aug. 3 is now Tony Bennett Day in America. A resolution was unanimously passed in the Senate to honor the legendary singer, who died last week, on what would have been his 97th birthday. “You only come across a Tony Bennett once in a lifetime,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said of the longtime New Yorker on Thursday. https://nypost.com/2023/07/29/tony-bennett-...-97th-birthday/ Deserved
