Voted! An ok semi which picked up for me in the second half (although a couple of my high votes were from the first half!). A few gems but I suspect the winner is in the brilliant Semi 1 (or Kath).

Oh I’m really chuffed to see Headache get a couple of positive mentions from Bré and Rich - I really wasn’t sure it would connect but it did with me so I guess I ought to have more faith.

I find it fascinating, as I do all their songs. I don’t know much about the artist but it’s refreshing to hear lyrics from the perspective of someone with mental troubles. I found it very stark on first listen but now I think it’s quite beautiful and compelling.

I do love 'Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)' and this song stands out in a similar way to that albeit obviously with a very different tone - knowing that the vocals are performed by an AI also gives it quite an intriguing and unsettling layer, it's definitely the most effective use of AI in music I've come across so far.

(also just can't really go wrong with Vegyn's production)

voted semi 2. there were some good ones we had to omit from points, but a pretty damn fine top 10. We had distractions with Kate Bush and Pet Shop Boys tribute riffs, and we want to hype Aphrodite's Child prog-rock anthem (Four Horseman cover), even if it's not Demis Roussos singing. Plus, if anyone is looking for a catch-phrase how about Mama Eh? Eh? Please yourself, we like it! :D

Voted! Bit of a weak semi tbh with only one or two extra songs I wish had fitted in my votes. Big hype to Fljótavík, that was a real highlight for me.

Ooh hype to Pestolia- I've had Cecile Believe's “Times” on my potench list for ages, but I love this track too. She recently produced and provided backing vocals on Shygirl's 2022 single “Firefly”, one of my favourite singles from last year. Though she hasn't released anything since Plucking a Cherry from the Void, I'm hoping that her time will come soon for more widespread acclaim!

Oh I didn't know she was on Firefly!! That's one of my favourite songs of last year so I'm even more pleased I chose her now.

I wouldn't have spotted this at all, it's so well made, and crazy that it's AI. Were the lyrics also generated by AI as some of them are so random (although moreso on the other tracks on the album that I've just finished listening to than this one).

The lyrics are written by a human (Francis Hornsby Clark), just performed by an AI!

Semi 2 listenthrough shall be going ahead at 8pm this evening btw :jump:

I think the lyrics across the album are supposed to piece together into one story - but I'm just not sure whether it's totally real or not, the themes of his relationship, illness and potential mob family(?) seem to fit. I want to know more but there's so little information out there about it. I was gutted when I listened attentively the second time and realised that he didn't get a happy outcome with his girlfriend :(

Also YAY at this entry generating discussion. I already feel like this is one of my most rewarding songs that I've ever sent so I'm so pleased I didn't change it after all, I don't care too much about whether it actually goes on to do well or not if there's a group of posters who really enjoyed discovering it ^_^

I am playing a few other songs before we start again anyway so will be more like an 8:10pm start, wbk I never actually start on time
Well much of the quality is concentrated at the start of semi 2. Hype to all the dark sounding entries. Rolloland's reminds me of that Serbia Eurovision song this year.
Ramrynia will probably get a LOT of the big pop votes. I think that’s a big contender for the win, imo.

Yeah I don't know why people aren't counting them in, it seems like a lock for top 10
