To be fair, I know loads of more casual/less-hardcore fans who are only buying one format so I don't think it's fair to say that it'll only be selling to a select group of people who are buying every format!

I’m really not sure, as album sales are currently even lower than 2020, however Kylie’s profile is the highest it’s been in years, she has actual hits again and if Claire Richards can do almost 10K, the sky really is the limit for Kylie.

Who buys 1 copy of anything anymore? To even get one copy you have to either go on Amazon, the artist webstore or go into HMV which is more effort than casually picking up an album while you do your Asda shopping which is where casual sales mostly came from.

Well, three close friends of mine have only ordered a copy of the deluxe edition for a start - two of which are aged under 40 and want a copy to complete their collection, but aren't fussed about buying multiple formats etc. As that's only 3 examples, there's bound to be more out there 🤷‍♂️

Record collectors also exist.. But I agree that people tend to overestimate the importance of so called "casual buyers".

I think she could do really well with "Padam Padam" becoming a hit and "Tension" looking to follow. She should get some decent streaming numbers for the album I would think. Hopefully the album boost can reset "Padam Padam" and get "Tension" a new peak in the chart (expecting it to debut top 40 this week at least).

I will be ordering one copy from Amazon. I have one copy of every Kylie album no more. I only buy multiple copies for spice girls and steps related releases (although I don’t bother with solo steps releases)

I think this will sell physically around the same or a little more than disco but there Will be a significant increase in streaming compared to the last era…. Padam and the beginnings of Tension seem to be clicking beyond the fanbase and with casual listeners a bit more.

Disco was also propped up by the most aggressive campaign I’ve ever seen during release week, including cassettes and signed vinyl. It depends a bit if they’re going to go as hard for Tension.

I think on release week they released 4 more cassettes in addition, that sold out in a couple of hours. I’m glad we’re getting signed cds, they seem like a no brainer. She’ll probably wait until release week so that people don’t cancel existing orders to buy signed stuff.
