Posted September 7, 20231 yr On September 22, three massive artists are releasing their albums; These are; Kylie Minogue - Tension Drake - For All The Dogs Doja Cat - Scarlet Who do you think will be #1?
September 7, 20231 yr Kylie’s got this, but Drake vs Doja for #2 will be an interesting one; Doja should do better.
September 7, 20231 yr I think it'll easily be Kylie by a distance - I think Drake might just make #2 over Doja.
September 7, 20231 yr What did Drakes last album open with?36k though the circumstances were a bit different with it being a collab album with 21 Savage. His last solo album only did 27k but again, different circumstances with it being a total surprise drop and got a mixed reception with fans. I think the more appropriate comparison to make here is with CLB which did 45k. Kylie's Disco opened with 55k, so she should easily beat Drake anyway I'd imagine.
September 7, 20231 yr It'll be Kylie Drake Doja I don't get why Drake chose to release on 22nd and not Friday next week for instance to ensure #1 position around the world. Maybe there will delays in production or sth.
September 7, 20231 yr I don't get why Drake chose to release on 22nd and not Friday next week for instance to ensure #1 position around the world. Obviously he is more bothered about being #1 on the Billboard chart.
September 7, 20231 yr Kylie will be #1 because her fanbase always like to physically buy her works, rather than stream it.
September 7, 20231 yr I’m going to guess: 1. Kylie Minogue (58k) 2. Drake (31k) 3. Doja Cat (27k) Kylie has this in the bag. However, I can see Doja and Drake both winning the streaming race and doing 12-15k on streaming each at least. But their physicals won’t be super strong. Edited September 7, 20231 yr by Davidson
September 7, 20231 yr assuming Kylie matches or surpasses Disco's first week sales that'll probably be enough to get there - tho I assume her team are wise enough to not take it as a given and continue campaigning throughout the week I'd expect Drake to (at the very least) open with similar numbers to CLB (45k) and there's always the possibility he could do more depending on overall fan reception and whatnot I can't see Doja even remotely competing with Drake on streaming so it's #3 at the highest for her
September 7, 20231 yr Planet Her didn’t even open with 10k and I feel like there was a bit more hype going into that album, I kinda feel like Paint the Town Red will be more of a one off that a precedent for how well the album will do (see Demons not really doing anything much streaming wise) so it’ll definitely be Kylie vs Drake I think both will open with similar numbers to their previous album (CLB for Drake) and if it end up getting close Kylie fans will definitely be the ones pushing more for the #1 which will help
September 7, 20231 yr Kylie will easily be #1 in the UK and I’d say Drake to be #2 with Doja #3. I imagine Kylie will be way ahead here and probably in Australia too. US wise I’d say Drake will be #1 easy.
September 7, 20231 yr I don't think Doja will be particularly close to the other two, she's not really an album artist. I think Drake will have a good chance of beating the openings of his last 2 albums but not sure it'll quite hit CLB numbers, and I still expect Kylie to at the very least do similarly to her last album if not a slight increase. So expecting a fairly comfortable win for Kylie (60k ish vs. 40k ish let's say) but a high selling #2 for Drake. Obviously he is more bothered about being #1 on the Billboard chart. This album is going to #1 in the US almost no matter what week he releases. Taylor would beat it, that's probably it.
September 16, 20231 yr Drake is now out of the running. Postponed his album until 6th October. He might get #1 depending on Ed’s first week sales. If Ed has big first week sales, I can see him blocking Drake from #1 like Harry did
September 16, 20231 yr Ed is releasing something? again? :( thank god there is are only few math's symbols left....
