I should note there is a big jump in average score as these three all surpassed 9.0!

 

It's funny how VLV has made it top 3 in a way when it did pick up a -1 like FY yet the latter was lower down..

On top of 'Violet Hill', that is also a great placing for 'Talk'. Love how it beautifully interpolates 'Computer Love' <3

In 3rd it is 'Yellow'. The track which brought the band their first top 10 single, peaking at 4 in July 2000. The video had a lot of changes to the original plan as some may already know via wiki or elsewhere. Originally all the band were supposed to be in the video but Will's mum memorial was on the same day as filming and it was also supposed to be sunny as well but weather interrupted that. A signature track from the band so unsurprisingly it didn't get any lower score than 6 and four 11's it received and a worthy top 3 placing for it!

Talk won the Coldplay rate I ran a while back, I can't say it's a huge highlight from them for me, but I do like the use of the sample. Glad to see Violet Hill do so well as that was an underperformer last time as well.

 

Hoping for The Scientist to win out of what's left but all three are worthy.

Excellent top 2. As good as 'Yellow' is I don't think it captures the essence of Coldplay as either of the top 2. I'd hope for VLV slightly.

 

Thought 'Violet Hill' which is bold, menacing and really grabs my attention on every listen could have got this based on a skim of the votes but not meant to be sadly. 4 is a great position as not one of their massive hits.

and so there we have it, despite Michael giving a -1 'Viva La Vida' wins out here after the twists and turns of these top 10 placings lol. It was of course the first ever #1 for the band after first entering the top 40 in 2000 and doing so 8 years later. Picking up a whopping eight 11's this was where the difference layed to outweigh the -1. It was one of the most obvious picks to win as well. I mean it really isn't a surprise when it's in the official top 100 again for this week as well.

 

Sadly for 'The Scientest' fans it comes runner up once again but really nothing to feel ashamed of as the track collected four 11's, registered a 9.2 average score and several other high scores. The lowest was Iz who gave it 4 but it is a massively regarded song of theirs indeed. The track was the 2nd single from A Rush of Blood To The Head and peaked at 10.
