  • You must only vote for your TWO least favourite themes in this round. Please do not vote for any more than this to keep it fair.

  • You are free to reveal your nomination choice now should you wish to or keep it a secret, it's up to you.
Theme Explanations

*Techno & Artistic/Experimental Electronica - Artistic electronic music so may not necessarily have a big drop or sound 'dated'. It sounds a bit more atmospheric

*Celebrating the Rise of Woman & Non-Binary People in Music - To celebrate the rising levels of equality within the business. People could choose to submit either a classic dance vocalist, an early pioneer or one of the increasing numbers of female/non-binary DJs and producers who are becoming more prominent

*Transformations - Remixes, covers, samples, interpolations, reworks etc. that completely transform the original piece. Highlighting the transformative nature of dance and electronic music and its ability to shapeshift and inspire future generations of music.

*Classic / Original Electronica - in terms of the original 90s definition. Something less high energy but with prominent uses of electronic instruments, synths and ambience. Think Moby and Massive Attack primarily.

*Halloween - dark, spooky, gothic dance music

Dance Till You're Dead was my choice, sad to see it go. I understand people may have struggled but some Googling throws up many names who have passed over the years that were less well-known than say Avicii or Frankie Knuckles.

I win out of the dance mods then x

I'll stick with Halloween and also turn to Album Tracks now too as well, loads of dance acts don't put out albums.

Oops yeah Wardy won't mind me exposing him here (I hope) but that was 2 mod choices gone in Round 3 :(

A reaching statement to make :kink: there are so many dance albums released in the world :o

Sad to also see my inspired suggestion Dance by Definition be eliminated. I guess it was never going to win though, but might have landed to some pretty novelty tracks for a change.

Still going for happy hardcore. I genuinely don’t think I could take part in that one

Also - sad to see so many interesting themes going. I can see why you both chose those ones

I had a great choice lined up for Dance By Definition but I won't say what it was in case the theme is used in the future.
Album Tracks and Happy Hardcore, maybe I don't know my dance genres well enough but the latter feels covered by the other Hardcore one? (Though that may be my next choice just cos we already had an upbeat one this year).

I find it interesting that we're voting out all the more open / general themes so early... I thought album tracks was a good idea too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (I do take the point of a lot of dance artists not releasing albums but still - I have actually had the idea to do an album tracks spinoff for BJSC some time which would of course be much more open)

Voted for both of the hardcore options this time ~

I actually quite like the idea of album tracks, especially as then it won't be restricted to unknown/lesser-known artists, it could be anyone which would make for an interesting contest
Yeah I liked the idea of that one too - although we can always do it another time I guess.
Album tracks and Happy Hardcore. Agree that there’s a really good selection left here.

Album Tracks as it's a bit too restrictive.

Down Under as I'm not such a fan of the Geography-based themes.
