October 29, 20232 yr I'm astonished it passes their censor filter given they apparently can't condone the word 'alcohol' etc...
October 29, 20232 yr Which they should, because $l*t isn't an offensive word unless you're extremely puritanical. The show isn't a Childrens one. I first thought when I saw the word that it was the brown stuff which would probably have to censor on daytime radio.
October 29, 20232 yr I'm not suggesting they should have to censor the word $lut, particularly given the context it appears in Taylor's song. Just pointing out it's surprising since lately they seem to be incredibly trigger happy indeed with the censor button to truly ridiculous extents. Edited October 29, 20232 yr by I am Kenough
October 29, 20232 yr The domination of Taylor in music is incredible in many respects, but I also can't help find it a bit tiresome, it's just non-stop. I hope at some stage very soon she disappears for a year or two.
October 29, 20232 yr I actually find Taylor's music really beige and boring overall. Weird because i love Olivia Rodrigo from the get go whose similar but more fiery I guess. But she has her stans (and she is pretty good on human rights stuff) so fair play and all that.
October 29, 20232 yr How did they announce '$l*t' on the radio? They should have said 'Dollar sign l asterisk t'
October 29, 20232 yr '1989' has reportedly sold 139k so far according to TheSwiftSociety on Twitter I was coming here to write it... WOW.
October 29, 20232 yr Wow 139k already, could be on course for 200k that’s amazing to see in this albums era! And I’m not even a huge fan of Taylor Swift but love a big album! Edited October 29, 20232 yr by steve201
October 29, 20232 yr '1989' has reportedly sold 139k so far according to TheSwiftSociety on Twitter That’s more than what Midnights did as that sold 131k at this point and you wouldn’t think that a TV album would sell this much. If it was a brand new album, then yeah
October 29, 20232 yr That’s more than what Midnights did as that sold 131k at this point and you wouldn’t think that a TV album would sell this much. If it was a brand new album, then yeah Still, can be and I do trust them. Such a shame she's selling only 2 colors of her Vinyl in the UK, so I'm not expecting the numbers to grow a lot, of course streaming and so will be great also.
October 29, 20232 yr Nearly 140k and not even Monday mids And thats with not even lots of vinyl variants
October 29, 20232 yr Still, can be and I do trust them. Such a shame she's selling only 2 colors of her Vinyl in the UK, so I'm not expecting the numbers to grow a lot, of course streaming and so will be great also. There are 5 vinyl variants! The standard Crystal Skies Blue, Indies/HMV Exclusive Tangerine and then 3 limited edition alternate cover variants. The 3 alt cover ones aren't on her store anymore as they were originally only supposed to be available for a very limited amount of time but it looks like HMV are selling them now. There's also a huge 8 different CD variants :kink: (the 4 different covers/colours with a polaroid and the same set with a poster), so even more than Midnights in total! Might explain why it's sold more so far.
October 29, 20232 yr That's insane if true. But she's the biggest star in the world and this is her biggest album so the anticipation must have been sky high. I appreciated that the CD was only £12.99 too - can't have hurt to boost sales, as the Speak Now CD was £19.99 wasn't it? I remember almost being put off buying it due to the price (but I did as I have bought everything she has done since 2008 *.*)
October 29, 20232 yr '1989' has reportedly sold 139k so far according to TheSwiftSociety on Twitter I don't believe it.
October 29, 20232 yr If those figures are reliable then that really is absolutely insane that a TV version album could sell more than a new studio album :o
