Christmas songs totally dominating the charts all December every December is boring enough, for them to start placing at the start of November is incredibly grim. I know it's what people are streaming the most etc etc etc, but the chart being almost completely predictable (and for many people almost unlistenable) for 15% of each calendar year surely could do with something being changed to address it?

Beatles now and than at 14 on Apple Music

Oh WOW!

Love the song I must admit.

I'm saving listening to it til tomorrow so that all my streams count 😝

The only downside of The Beatles getting to #1 would be that Elvis' record for most #1 hits would no longer be unambiguous  (as this would be an 18th for The Beatles which matches the number Elvis has if you don't count the 2005 reissues as separate #1s).

Not sure how likely it is to happen anyway, would probably need to hold up fairly well unless it really brings in massive physical sales. I wouldn't be surprised if it had a similar trajectory to 'There'd Better Be A Mirrorball' on streaming.

The Beatles are already #4 on Amazon. I find it hard to believe that it won't be #1 next week with physicals.

Edit: Actually it's #2 on the Amazon overall chart, but #4 on the Prime chart ("Vampire" is #1 on the prime chart - it's excluded from the non-prime chart for some reason?).

Thank god, The Beatles are far superior artists!

My Christmas playlist has 410 songs!

I thought I was doing well with 150 😅

227 here (but I'm sure I'll add another small handful of new releases between now and Xmas!)

Will be even more annoying if this keeps on year after year as Mariah and Wham are likely to start breaking records like most weeks in the top 10.

Even higher now on Apple!

3. The Beatles - Now And Then

33. The Beatles - Love Me Do (2023 Mix)

Perhaps the OCC can give Love Me Do a reset

Really wow. Respect.

1 hour til these streams start counting... hope it's not just a mad first 24 hours and then drops like a stone
Wow this new Beatles track is really good too - much better than 'Free as a Bird', its so atmospheric and a bit melancholic. Hope with physicals it does get to no.1.
I wouldn't have predicted 'Love Me Do' to rechart that highly at all let alone this quickly...! Very interested to see how high they end up debuting on Spotify from the first 10 (11?) hours. Hope they won't end up being toooo frontloaded, this seems like one of the very rare occasions where the wasted first few hours of downloads and streams could feasibly end up making a real difference to their chart position (although at least all the physical sales will definitely count to the right week and it's very possible they could more than make up for losing out on a chunk of the initial downloads and curiosity streams).

The new version of 'Love Me Do' has been placed as the B-side to 'Now And Then' on streaming, so it'll play automatically for quite a lot of people.
