I think the OCC may very well end up making a 'catalogue singles chart'* if that happens, or if Mr Brightside ends up being a top 40 presence whilst still on ACR – simply putting Christmas songs on "double ACR" isn't going to solve the issue.

*as in, anything over 3 years old goes into the catalogue chart rather than the main chart except in certain circumstances where a reset is granted

I'd like to see this for both the singles and albums chart.

We will miss Ladbaby if Mariah and Wham are Xmas no1 every year.

Anyone know what the Amazon exclusives are yet?

It’s also interesting how people look back to their own Xmas era and wish for it to be like that such as anyone from the late 90s noughties era wants the years big pop acts to have big releases on Xmas week while those of us that are older want new Xmas songs to be no1!

As Ladbaby has had 5 consecutive Christmas number 1s in a row, a record that will surely never be beaten, perhaps now is the time to call it quits rather than try for a 6th and fail miserably. Plus they no longer seem to attract (positive) media attention so would probably just encourage even more of a backlash.

Don't Amazon normally reveal their exclusives around mid to late November?

I think most people look back to their own Xmas era and wish for something similar to that. I still look back fondly on the Christmas 1984 chart and have happy memories of that time. The chart that year was a good mix of old Christmas classics, records that were then new Christmas songs and which have gone on to be Christmas classics, silly seasonal songs referencing frogs and elephants (in the top 5 too!). And non-seasonal songs that have gone on to be 1980s classics. Just perfect.

Can we get some fresh #1 Christmas contenders please. If it has to be an older Christmas song, lets campaign for Kelly (with or without Ari I don't mind!) this year please and thank you xx (Or even Taylor to rightfully get what she deserves with 'Christmas Tree Farm'!!!)
Tay Tay to release the Xmas Farm thing on CD single with free shipping and she even pays you 99p if you buy it :D
LadBaby and Sam Ryder were spotted chatting at a festival, and it seems there won't be a new Christmas single from them this year.
Do they just put artists like Adele up every year? I’m sure I’ve seen here in the listings for the past 5 years.
Yes they always include big names (and Jesy Nelson) as there's a chance if they drop a surprise release they have enough name power to go straight to #1 so they're covering themselves somewhat.

Every year I dread the Christmas music takeover, I just can't fathom how people aren't sick of the same songs every single year?

Also, a lot of the streams are completely passive - retail/restaurants/bars using Spotify and people just having it on in the background so not really even representative of what people are listening to. I wish they'd sort a rule out but I don't know how/what that would entail.

I feel the same. I could handle Christmas music for maybe a week leading up to Christmas but the way it begins as early as November is just ridiculous.

I think late November is fine for Xmas music to start but any earlier than the 20th is too soon imo. I do play Mariah once on september 1st just for a laugh because my dad is a bit of a grinch and if he could he would only have Christmas stuff the week before . I do like the regular songs like wham and Mariah doing well, but it would be nice for some others to have their moments too. And echoing points made above, Christmas Tree Farm for Xmas #1!!!
If The Sidemen try again and do promotion work early on this time around then I think they'll be Christmas number 1 easily.
Do we have any info on whether The Sidemen have actually got something in the works?

I remember Sidemen fans didn’t like their constant spamming and couldn’t understand why they cared about number one when it was meant to be for charity (reminiscent of LadBaby…).

Sam Ryder was on the list last year, but I don't see him releasing a Christmas single this year, even though his fans want one, especially since he's no longer signed to a major label.
