Sam Ryder would be lucky to get another single go top 40, never mind a Christmas #1.

Sam doesn’t care, and he didn’t ask to be in the betting odds

As Ladbaby has had 5 consecutive Christmas number 1s in a row, a record that will surely never be beaten, perhaps now is the time to call it quits rather than try for a 6th and fail miserably. Plus they no longer seem to attract (positive) media attention so would probably just encourage even more of a backlash.

Don't Amazon normally reveal their exclusives around mid to late November?

I think most people look back to their own Xmas era and wish for something similar to that. I still look back fondly on the Christmas 1984 chart and have happy memories of that time. The chart that year was a good mix of old Christmas classics, records that were then new Christmas songs and which have gone on to be Christmas classics, silly seasonal songs referencing frogs and elephants (in the top 5 too!). And non-seasonal songs that have gone on to be 1980s classics. Just perfect.

I think the Amazon songs are announced in the first week of November so be interesting to see what comes out.

Yeh as I said on Gezzas 1980s thread Christmas 1984 was the peak of Xmas hits in the chart apx 10 years after the industry realised the potential of releasing Xmas songs in December following 1972/3!

Tay Tay to release the Xmas Farm thing on CD single with free shipping and she even pays you 99p if you buy it :D

Is CTF on ACR from the 7th dec this year? I always remember the release was quite late in the season for an Xmas song! Don’t understand why it did so poorly as Taylor was pretty damn big when it was released or was she in the middle of an album campaign when it came out? It is building each year though!

It was in the middle of the 'Lover' era. 'Lover' didn't do *too* great at the time and struggled to get any enduring or lasting hit (worse for 'Lover' (song) as it was getting overwhelmed by Christmas songs at the time iirc) The late Christmas release for CTF hindered it also as I believe (could be wrong, but I think I remember having this convo with a couple of people at the time) the playlists for Christmas music stopped getting updated from the 1st December, so there wasn't really a chance for it to catch on properly! (Might have changed now idk)

It’s also really not very good at all

I don’t even think that’s me not being Taylor’s #1 fan, it just sounds quite demoish and throwaway, with no real expectation of being anything other than a treat for her fans but maybe I’m wrong.

^yes, you're right, if I remember it well, Taylor wrote it during Thanksgiving, quicky recorded it afterwards and released it like around the end of the first week of December so too late to be added to playlists + she was not as popular as she is nowadays

then 2 years ago she did a new version and that was Amazon exclusive, but again released too late in the year

she just needs good playlisting, that's all, the song is genius, not that dissimilar to All I Want for Xmas is You

2019 she released it too late

2020 suprise released evermore just as it was catching on

2021 red TV had only just been released ATW was bigger priority

2022 midnight was still huge (did it get Christmas number 1 album) and was also on acr by early December

Yeah might be a big taylor fan and biased but it's always one of my first Christmas song choices of the season (along with Underneath the tree)

Yeh Christmas Tree Farm is a good new Xmas song imo too and enjoy hearing it every year as it’s so new!

So the 3 year rule will kick in on 7/12/23 then so 44 couod be it’s peak?

It was released in 2019 the 3 year rule kicked in last year

Seriously now, who needs a SWift Christmas no1...she`s had more no1`s than she deserves anyway..

She’s only had 2 #1 singles plz 😭😭😭

Why can't it be The Saturdays with 'Christmas Wrapping' or Girls Aloud with 'Not Tonight Santa'?...

Ladbaby is crap and I don't care, we all have the same 24hrs in the day, over charity causes now

Well why not the original Waitresses track instead of a lazy cover of a song which only peaked at 46 upon release in December 1982?
^only if it was a Kylie song :D

could we campaign for the sidemen ?

I think Wham should have it in the bag this year even if the seedy sausage roll millionaire decides to release a song tbh. I don't think the sidemen will be releasing a song this year as they have only done it twice before with a four year gap in between each set of songs, I can see them getting it in the future if they decide to do a massive push for #1 all week and not just for one or two days like they did last year.

just checked and they did very well indeed, not far from Ladbaby
