Welcome to my first quiz in this part of the forum. All you have to do is guess the titles of twenty UK number 1 singles from the clues given. They are spread fairly evenly across the decades of the UK chart. An answer you give may fit the clue well but you only get the point if it's the same answer as I have thought of. There are also two bonus questions at the end. You will score one point for each correct answer and one point for each of the bonus questions. I hope these are not too easy or too difficult. Don't forget, every song must have topped the UK chart.

When you are ready, please send your answers to myself by PM.

The closing date is Tuesday 5th December

1. Mind the gap

2. Reversed numbness

3. The dancefloor needs a good clean

4. What price is Brian?

5. Street graffiti

6. Not the best time to visit the beach

7. What the Duke of Edinburgh said to the Queen

8. Suits you sir!

9. Mick's feeling confident

10. A tearful prayer

11. Five red lights go out

12. Wet dreams

13. End of the drought

14. I feel the earth move

15. Harry Kane's favourite word

16. Fire at the disco

17. We're all going on a summer holiday

18. A first for the Presbyterians

19. What Alistair said at the end of the race

1. Which question will get the most correct answers?

2. Which question will have the least correct answers?

These look quite difficult, only one of them has jumped out at me from an initial scan. I can see some of these getting quite frustrating though!

I feel it's a bit harsh that we don't get at least half a point for finding an alternative number one which fits the clue well, even if it's not the one you intended :P

I did think about giving three points for a correct answer and one point for a good wrong answer but I would have to decide what is a good wrong answer and what isn't. I might still go with that if you all don't mind me making arbitrary decisions.

Having seen the first two sets of answers, I've decided to go with 3 points for a correct answer and 1 point for an answer that fits the clue well. Funny answers might also get a point.

I've been having a lot of fun with #7 too

Every time I think I have a song that fits the clue perfectly, I find out it peaked at like number 4 or something.

Haha that means I didn't get many right then! Happy for you to use your discretion re points! :)

Yes there are plenty of amusing answers for #7  I *think* I may have found the answer you're thinking of although I can't be completely sure, so I'm not sure if I should just go for one of my comedy answers instead!
Same, too difficult for me I think, only could guess the last one actually :D
Will be interested to see what these were... I ended up getting more than I thought I would (assuming they're correct!) but still very far away from being able to get them all.
