This must be the only source of income Leona Lewis gets these days!

Bleeding Love still gets more streams on an annual basis than One More Sleep I would think?

I like this Tate McRae song, actually I like quite a few but I struggle to get past that voice. It really goes right through me!
Her voice is the kind of voice I can only listen to for so long before I find it grating. If I listen to it as an album, it grates on me and I can't stand it too much. But taking them at face value on their own, there's some really solid tracks.
In my town this was the song they would play every year for the Xmas light switch on. This year the lights went on go 10:35 by tiesto and Tate McRae  don’t get me wrong, great song. But it didn’t hit the same as shade lol

How am I just now realizing that One More Sleep and Merry Christmas Everyone have the same opening lyric!?

Well, except "all around me" vs. "all around us" but still

I don’t really get grating for tates vocals tbh (tho I am quite a fan so maybe I’m bias lol). I mean each to their own and I can see why it could be annoying but idk it’s not as grating as someone like Oliver tree for example

José Monserrate Feliciano García (born September 10, 1945), better known simply as José Feliciano [xoˈse feliˈsjano], is a Puerto Rican musician, singer and composer, best known for many international hits, including his rendition of the Doors' "Light My Fire" and the best-selling Christmas single, "Feliz Navidad." His music is known for its fusion of styles: Latin, jazz, blues, soul and even rock, created primarily with his unique, signature acoustic guitar sound. His oftentimes mellow easy listening influences are easily recognizable in many songs heard around the world.

In the United States, he first received widespread popularity in the 1960s, particularly after his 1968 album Feliciano! reached number two on the music charts. Thus far, he has released over fifty albums, worldwide, in both English and Spanish. - Wikipedia

Biography

There’s purpose in Dua Lipa’s euphoric pop. “For me, it’s about championing women and putting ourselves in the position of power,” the singer told Apple Music in 2020, ahead of the release of her second album, Future Nostalgia. “I have been inspired by the female alphas that have shown me that we can do it. And that we can wear the pants, you know? We need more of that in music.” Forcing the world to get a little more comfortable with female alphas has been a mission statement for Lipa (born in London to Kosovar Albanian parents in 1995) since her 2017 self-titled debut. It housed the triumphant breakup smash “New Rules”, the self-love anthem “IDGAF” and the assured “Hotter Than Hell”—songs which made it clear that this was no ingénue, but rather an outspoken, effortlessly cool face of pop’s future. Indeed, that status was cemented a year later when Lipa made history as the first female solo artist to receive five BRIT Award nominations. She won two and, in 2019, added two Grammys to her mantelpiece.

Despite the success of her debut, Lipa wasn’t interested in recreating its hits. “People always say, ‘The second album is really scary,’ but for me, it’s more scary to go back into the studio and try to create something like ‘New Rules’ or ‘IDGAF’ over and over again,” she said. “I feel like I’d end up in a vicious cycle of trying to get somewhere but never being able to mature as an artist.” And so, to move forward, she pivoted to the past, drawing on disco and funk—and filtering it through her ahead-of-its-time pop—to arrive at Future Nostalgia. Decadent and every bit as empowering as those early hits, it brought Lipa her first Mercury Prize nod, multiple Grammy nominations and a rightful place in pop’s upper echelons. And with it, too, came Lipa’s new purpose. Released just as the world went into lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis, Future Nostalgia became an urgent tonic for tough times—danced to in living rooms across the world. Yet Lipa wasn’t done there: Five months later, she unveiled Club Future Nostalgia, a thrilling remixed version on which the singer teamed up with club queen The Blessed Madonna, and guests including Madonna, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani and Mark Ronson, to bring lockdown-fatigued listeners another dose of escapism. “I didn’t think I’d be putting albums out during a global pandemic,” added Lipa. “But it’s just about creating experiences for everyone at home. That’s the most important thing for me now.”

All of this, of course, is only just the beginning. “I really feel like I’m finding my feet,” said Lipa. “I feel so proud of Future Nostalgia as a whole and the most confident and the most myself making it. But I’m already planning the next move.” - Apple Music

Biography

Fred again..

Born in 1993, London-based songwriter/producer Fred John Philip Gibson treats his electro and rave-inspired songs as diary entries. But the artist, who performs under the name Fred Again.., doesn’t limit the subject matter to himself. On albums like 2021’s Actual Life (April 14 - December 17 2020) and its sequel, Actual Life 2 (February 2 - October 15 2021), Fred invited his friends into the studio to record their personal stories and then sprinkled them throughout the album. (The obvious exception was an epic Kodak Black sample on “Kahan (Last Year)”.) The songwriter has also worked with stars such as Eminem and Ed Sheeran, but Fred’s longest collaboration is with his brothers, whom he shares his tracks with before they’re released. “It’s such a blessing to work with both of my brothers,” Fred explained in an interview with Apple Music. “I’ll spend hours and hours working on a tune, and they’ll hear it how I will, but without all the baggage. They bring a fresh ear.” - Apple Music

Baby Keem

Baby Keem’s vocals are as animated as they are downplayed—an intentional pairing that makes for an unmistakable approach to rap. Born Hykeem Jamaal Carter Jr. in 2000, the Las Vegas-via-L.A. artist first began creating music at age 13, borrowing money from his grandmother to buy used equipment off of the internet. By his late teen years, he had already leapt ahead of his peers—his eclectic production methods and introspective songwriting led to contribution credits with some of the biggest names in the industry, notably pop supernova Beyoncé and rap luminary Kendrick Lamar (his rumoured cousin). On his debut mixtape, 2018’s The Sound of Bad Habit, Keem’s delivery expands and contracts, fluctuating between high-pitched and even-keeled on songs like the gutsy, dark intro “Wolves”. He settled confidently into his free-flowing style on his breakthrough 2019 follow-up, DIE FOR MY BITCH, which was led by the flippant “ORANGE SODA”, a stream of consciousness single where he rapped amusingly about his arbitrary dating parameters. His 2020 double single release furthered his musical modus operandi: the pensive, piano-driven “hooligan” showcased Keem’s ability to look inward and reflect, while the trappy, bass-heavy “sons & critics freestyle” found the rapper casually flexing on his contemporaries. No matter the topic, Keem thrives comfortably in his pocket, locked into a dynamic aesthetic that has set him apart since he began. - Apple Music

Biography

Lyrical Lemonade

Lyrical Lemonade is a Chicago video production brand, and is often considered the best brand made in the SoundCloud-rap generation. It was created in 2013 by Cole Bennett in his study hall class and started as an internet blog. With time and perseverance, Cole ended up shooting his friends' music videos and editing them all by himself. Cole and Lyrical Lemonade started to get heavy notoriety when Cole was able to book Lil Uzi Vert for a concert in Chicago in 2016, which eventually sold out. Lyrical Lemonade, as a brand, became more than just creating music videos, but also starting careers and inspiring the youth. Artists who worked with Lyrical Lemonade include Ski Mask the Slump God, Lil Tecca, Juice WRLD, Eminem, and J. Cole, just to name a few. As of June 26th 2023, they have 20.9 million subscribers and have accumulated 10.5 billion views on YouTube. - Genius

Dave

Challenging power and perception with a free-spoken approach to rap, Dave has indelibly amplified hip-hop’s voice in Britain. Born David Orobosa Omoregie in Brixton, London in 1998, Dave suddenly implanted himself in the UK rap scene in 2016, first with the electric grime alliance “Thiago Silva” with AJ Tracey and then when Drake jumped on the remix of the velvety “Wanna Know” from Dave’s first EP, Six Paths. Rebuffing label advances to pursue his career independently, he demonstrated a self-reliant streak on releases such as his 2017 EP Game Over, whose “Question Time,” a scathing attack on Theresa May’s Conservative government, garnered him an Ivor Novello songwriting award. Dave’s full-length debut, the Mercury Prize winner Psychodrama, followed in 2019; epitomizing his achingly honest rap style, it laid bare personal vulnerabilities while challenging institutional racism in a provocative fashion rarely heard in British rap. The centerpiece of the lavishly soundscaped album was “Black,” a heart-wrenching portrait of the prejudice affronting Black lives. At the 2020 BRIT Awards, where Psychodrama won Album of the Year, Dave started his performance of “Black” by accompanying himself on piano and ended it by excoriating British Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a “real racist” and executing a perfect mic drop. - Apple Music

Enjoyed the Fred Again track - good that we’re getting some proper old school style dance hits in the charts lately and not just Guetta and Corry.

Biography

Sometime around the end of 2010, Sia Furler hit bottom. She was exhausted, numb, self-medicating. She’d had some success, but the trade-off—touring, promotion, life without privacy—felt too steep. She thought about suicide. Then an idea came along: Why put so much of herself on the line when she could just try writing for someone else? Even after coming back to the stage as a solo artist, Furler maintained a degree of playful detachment: The big wigs, the reluctance to show her face. But the music was real, empathetic, even heroic—anthems of vulnerability and self-empowerment that handled huge feelings with a lightness that made it seem like she was dancing slightly above the ground. Pop songs are fantasies, she seemed to say. But they also get us through.

Born in Adelaide, Australia, in 1975, Furler started out singing in a local acid-jazz band called Crisp before moving to London, joining the trip-hop group Zero 7 while starting a solo career. Her early albums—off-kilter pop with hints of folk, electronica and jazz—did fine, but it wasn’t until she started writing for other artists that her career took off. Beyoncé (“Pretty Hurts”), Britney Spears (“Perfume”), Katy Perry (“Double Rainbow“), Rihanna (“Diamonds”): Furler’s writing made for some of the most bright-lined, all-caps pop of the 2010s, while her own tracks (“Chandelier”, “The Greatest”, “Alive”, “Unstoppable”) set new standards for playacting in pop performance, making her—a queer woman whose self-professed higher power is a surfing, Santa Claus-like figure called Whatever Dude—not just a songwriter, but also a kind of oddball role model for anyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t quite fit in. She said a producer once claimed that it wasn’t fair for her to be able to turn out a song in 20 minutes and get the royalty split she did. Maybe so, Furler clapped back—but getting to those 20 minutes took her 15 years. - Apple Music

Biography

Eccentric pop genius Ulysses Adrian "Roy" Wood developed the Electric Light Orchestra out of the Move, a truly great British band in an era of great British bands. However, because of a rift with Jeff Lynne, Wood left ELO after the debut No Answer and created Wizzard, a bizarre octet who debuted at a 1972 Wembley Rock 'n' Roll Festival and then captured the airwaves with "Ball Park Incident." Wizzard landed two chart-toppers overseas, "See My Baby Jive" and "Angel Fingers." Chaotic but always melodic, Wood built a unique wall of sound around these and other dandies like "Rock and Roll Winter" and perennial winner "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day." Wizzard even jabbed the ascending ELO with "Bend Over Beethoven."

In the center of this insanity, Wood sported multi-colored beard and mane, added a star to his forehead, and covered his face (perhaps inspiring fan Paul Stanley) with warpaint, sprinkles, or innumerable other oddities. Wizzard seemed to only maintain success with singles however, and the Introducing Eddie and the Falcons LP, a tribute to early rock icons like Del Shannon, Gene Vincent, and Cliff Richard, proved to be Wizzard's final work. Manager Don Arden enjoyed stadium success in the U.S., but Wizzard folded when management decided not to increase financing. Wood kept bassist Rick Price and saxophonist Mike Burney for the Wizzo Band, whose jazz-funk wafted beyond commercial confines for a lone effort, Super Active Wizzo. Wizzo expired in 1978, Wood continuing his concurrent solo career and basically dropping out of sight, reappearing periodically to perform with disciples Cheap Trick. - Spotify
