I've taken the token time to listen to the handful of songs I hadn't already heard on here. The Residents continue to be iconic.

I generally like Tori Amos but sorry I cannot abide any version of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' and if anything her version is one of the worst ones I've heard, I struggled to get through the whole thing!

Looking forward to the results. A great final 40 by the way - could happily have voted for at least 30. Think the format worked out really well.

So, thanks to those of you that voted and to Sausgae Rollo for doing the adding up :D

Here are the results for 42 to 36:

36. 33 points

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve / Sarajevo 12/24

37. 30 points

Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmastime

38. 29 points

Vince Guaraldi Trio - Linus And Lucy

39. 27 points

Vince Guaraldi Trio - Christmas Time Is Here

40. 25 points

Mary Hopkin - Mary Had A Baby

41. 20 points

Joan Regan - Must Be Santa

42. 19 points

The Residents - Fire (from the Santa Dog EP)

No big shockers here as the lesser known tracks depart EXCEPT!! Paul McCartney's Wonderful Christmastime from 1979 which seems to be quite marmite and bows out at a lowly 37.

Yeh Paul McCartney is a love it or hate it track, I love it but others hate it.

Never got into the Vince Xmas album!

Santa dog's a jesus fetus, pass it on....

More people really gotta watch A Charlie Brown Christmas based on this, that + the soundtrack is a festive ESSENTIAL

31. 41 points

The Spice Girls - 2 Become 1

32. 40 points

Cliff Richard - Saviour's Day

33. 37 points (6 votes, one 15)

David Bowie and Bing Crosby - Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy

34. 37 points (6 votes, one 13)

Bobby Helms - Jingle Bell Rock

35. 37 points (2 votes)

Tori Amos - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

A mixed bag here, with the little known Tori Amos track, the rather fab Jingle Bell Rock, the awkward and cringe (but quite endearing) Bowie and Bing, the lesser of the 2 Cliff Christmas number 1s and the is it a Christmas song or just a. Christmas number 1 Spice-tastic 2 Become 1

The Residents robbed once more tbh. And Sir Sir Paul robbed as well, you people clearly have not been practicing all year long hard enough to appreciate this one x

Out of the two AlexRange tracks I actually kinda liked the Joan Regan one (I knew the Bob Dylan version of it already but this version was kinda cute).

26. 49 points

Type O Negative - Red Water (Christmas Mourning)

27. 48 points

Low - Just Like Christmas

28. 47 points

Nat ‘King’ Cole - The Christmas Song

29. 44 points

Andy Williams - It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

30. 42 points

Queen - Thank God It's Christmas

So into the top 30, with Queen's little known but brilliant Christmas song, an Andy Williams staple, the classic Nat King Cole Christmas song and 2 songs from the 90s that I barely know!
