February 6, 20241 yr The Dream Frequency and Time Frequency weren't connected? I prefer Dream Frequency of the two, also it was in the charts on my birth-day. I am glad that the Feel So Real 2020 version on Spotify is very similar to the original and so made this compilation.
February 7, 20241 yr Author Excellent work Colm. I love how the extra disc has given you more room to include some smaller overlooked classic Rave hits that were missing from Now! That's What I Call Rave. In particular pleased to see Urban Shakedown and Congress make the cut. *.* I also discovered a few tracks that I hadn't heard before while researching this. And gooddelta had great suggestions too which really strengthened the collection. Edited February 7, 20241 yr by Colm

Considering you were born in the middle of this era, you have great knowledge.
February 7, 20241 yr I will like to see Schlager compilation. Not sure where to even start with that. You could split it into modern schlager/classic schlager/Eurovision/Melodifestivalen/German/Swedish/South African etc.... Feels like an absolutely huge pool of music to source from. German language countries, from the legends like Helene Fischer and Andrea Berg to younger generations like Beatrice Egli, Marie Reim, Melissa Naschenweng. Typical stuff from Mein Herz schlägt Schlager and Schlager für Alle channels on Youtube. Edited February 9, 20241 yr by Last Dreamer

Typical stuff from Mein Herz schlägt Schlager and Schlager für Alle channels on Youtube. I had a rough look at who I might include in this, and had put in the first four you mentioned. Not saying we'll be creating this compilation, was just curious if we were thinking along similar lines. My knowledge falls down on the much older schlager so it would require a lot of research. February 9, 20241 yr Coming soon… Who do you think will make the final cut? BuzzJack member Spiral will be here to reveal the tracks soon!
February 9, 20241 yr I shall trust that gooddelta fought for Steps - Scared of the Dark to have its rightful place of being Track 1 on CD1 and won *.* ( :kink: )
February 9, 20241 yr Coming soon… Who do you think will make the final cut? Fantastic year for Lithuanian pop: - After long pause in 7 years new YVA song was released. - Maria Akelan got the first hit. - Monika Sedziuviene had some glorious performances in TV show "Muzikinis Iššūkis". - National pre-selection gave a masterpiece from Mia. 5vec4jNVhbs v27josOCqBU ZKK5gmDmJIA cJ0_1v8tvg0
February 11, 20241 yr Picture It! Music, 2017! A year of variety, bangers, bops, emotional ballads, latin infused jams, and charity singles! Is it all on our upcoming album? Mayyyyybeeeeee! To keep you guessing here is a little teaser of the track listing! For now, tell us: what songs do you think will be making top billing on each disc? :o What songs do you hope make it, and which guilty pleasures do you secretly want at the bottom of Disc 4? :P Full track listing coming soon! Edited February 11, 20241 yr by Spiral
February 13, 20241 yr Author Really loving your enthusiasm for 2017, Spiral. :D I wouldn't know where to start with predicting the openers. Despacito was huge so maybe that.
February 13, 20241 yr Is 2017 going to go against the one song per artist rule? :o Re: Ed Sheeran! So the following is a general comment rather than specifically aimed at this compilation, because I totally understand why these decisions were made! Something I personally haven’t been keen on in recent years, is that a single released towards the end of the year but then remains a hit into the new year (possibly reaching its peak then) will create a scenario of having to decide which year it best fits in to. So for instance in this 2017 list we see 2016 releases from Zayn/Taylor and Jax Jones/Raye. Which I get, I just miss when the year of release would be the obvious choice, if that makes sense. When it comes to the physical era (more so mid 90s onwards) and even the download era, I appreciate that it was way more clear cut that a single’s release year would be the year that would be considered. Like, I don’t think anybody would argue for Girls Aloud - Sound of the Underground to be included on 2003 over 2002, even though it was released as late as 16th December 2002.

It's an interesting point. I put Stick Season towards the back of the 2023 album, which was put together in November when it looked as if it was done as a low top ten peaking hit. Now of course, it's probably going to be the biggest seller of 2024, or one of the top three at least, so does it also deserve a place high up on 2024? Maybe. I didn't have much input into this one - it's been done by Andrew and Adam (Spiral) but I think with the retrospective albums, what we've mainly tried to do is take each song on a case by case basis. As some make more sense to include on their year of release, and others make more sense to include when they peaked. Like, we haven't thought about 1997 or 1998 yet but I suggested Never Ever makes more sense on 1997, when it sold 750k and was part of that landmark late 1997 chart period, rather than 1998, when it defaulted up to No.1 on a low sales week right at the start. I'd rather put Under The Bridge/Lady Marmalade on 1998 instead. But there's no real right or wrong answer, as ultimately it was a No.1 of 1998.
February 13, 20241 yr R.e. the potential for double appearances, although I will let Adam and Andrew confirm whether there are any or not on 2017, our first album - 2023 - did feature doubles from Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, Lewis Capaldi and Calvin Harris. In slower chart eras, there's more room to breathe on these albums as there are so fewer high peaking hits than years ago. Edited February 13, 20241 yr by gooddelta

I agree, I feel the same about Steps - Heartbeat/Tragedy - for me that's firmly 1998, even though it went to #1 in 1999! Which I get, I just miss when the year of release would be the obvious choice, if that makes sense. When you say 'the obvious choice', I don't know what you mean, Jay? Regarding making a choice of which yearly compilation to include a song on - the song's year of release would almost always be the obvious year to choose, rather than the year following its release - and what I was trying to say is that I miss when it was clear cut like that, which I find was more the case pre-streaming era. This 2017 compilation being confirmed to include a couple of 2016 releases, highlights how the lines have blurred a bit... and that the year of release isn't necessarily the obvious choice anymore.
February 13, 20241 yr Camelphat - Cola will probably appear, but I much prefer Breathe from 2018 - doesn't have the disturbing lyrics and has more interesting production in my opinion. And yes also for dance MK - 17 made top 10 in 2017 good tune but a bit tinny and high pitched for me. EDIT: chart peaked first week in Jan 2018 actually! Edited February 13, 20241 yr by TheSnake
