Yes, it stretches from the 90s origins to 2008 to cover the big hits of the 2007/8 revival. We haven't gone past 2008 to include more recent hits with garage inspired production.

I am. And I realised that while I own a lot of garage compilations, there was nothing I was very happy with that covered both the late 90s/early 00s and late 00s eras. So I had made my own playlist and then thought that it could work for Buzzjack Presents with some tweaks, to include some deeper cuts and cult classics beyond just the surface level chart hits.

We've only included a few garage mixes of other songs, mainly where they transcended the original to become very popular in their own right (e.g. the Wookie mixes of Little Man by Sia and Sunshine by Gabrielle).

Some garage albums back in the day featured a mix of Another Level's Guess I Was A Fool, but I couldn't find any evidence to suggest this was genuinely popular at the time, so I think it was probably a label album filler.

Also, a few garage songs are absent on Spotify so don't appear, the biggest probably being Gunman by 187 Lockdown (Kung-Fu is there though) and Right Between The Eyes by N'n'g feat Callaghan, but others from De Nada, Ladies First, Shanks & Bigfoot's follow up are also missing.

Welcome to Classic Garage, our look at a landmark genre that was at its peak from the late 90s to early 00s and then had a second wind in 2007/8. This compilation largely focuses on that first era but we have covered the biggest hits of the revival too.

Disc 1 kicks off with Artful Dodger's huge Re-Rewind, which set the wheels in motion for the genre (and singer Craig David) to go on to dominate in 2000. Classic hits from So Solid Crew, with the No.1 21 Seconds, and classic No.2 hits Flowers by Sweet Female Attitude and All I Want by Mis-Teeq follow, before some of the respected names of the genre in Wookie and MJ Cole with major hits and remixes for Gabrielle and Sia, plus Shola Ama and Kristine Blond, whose garage remixes are still played widely to this day. More hits from Amira, Tru Faith and Dub Conspiracy (with Eurovision star Imaani) doing Freak Like Me two years before Sugababes got to it, and then our introduction to Ms Dynamite, alongside Sticky. More hits from Dreem Teem, Christian Falk and Kele Le Roc follow before some more cult classics from George Morel, Sunship and Dem 2, and rounding off with a garage hit from Neneh Cherry (again with Dreeem Teem), and a popular garage remix of Baby D's 1994 No.1.

Disc 2 is the first garage No.1, Sweet Like Chocolate from Shanks & Bigfoot with its memorable chocolatey animated video, and then other more pop inspired garage hits from Daniel Bedingfield and his No.1 Gotta Get Thru This, True Steppers, Dane Bowers and of course 2-step queen Victoria Beckham with one of the most famous No.2 hits, Out Of Your Mind. More No.1s follow from Oxide & Neutrino sampling the Casualty theme, 3 Of A Kind with the novelty Baby Cakes, and DJ Pied Piper's Do You Really Like It? More big hits from Architechs, 1997 early garage influenced smashes from across the pond in Rosie Gaines and Tina Moore, and some more cult hits from Double 99 and Indo. The hits continue with summer 2000 duo The B-15 Project and Lonyo, before Wideboys, The Underdog Project, the debut hit from Mis-Teeq, and another classic from MJ Cole. We then see some more club cuts from Shaun Escoffery, Hardrive, and DJ Zinc, a very popular garage remix of electronic hit Dooms Night by Azzido Da Bass, and finally the top ten hit Kung-Fu by 187 Lockdown.

Disc 3 starts with another legendary anthem, A Little Bit Of Luck from DJ Luck & MC Neat, which climbed slowly to its peak around the turn of the century, and then the garage influenced solo No.1 Fill Me In from Craig David, followed naturally by Artful Dodger with their second appearance, Movin' Too Fast. So Solid Crew's cult but uncharting (due to ineligibility reasons) Oh No (Sentimental Things) follows before more hits from True Steppers and Genius Cru, a classic from Monsta Boy, other lower charting but well respected songs from Scott & Leon, Lonyo and M-Dubs and popular remixes from US acts K-Ci & Jojo and Jaheim, and then we move back underground with Nubirth, Wookie, Scott Garcia, Groove Chronicles and Roy Davis Jr, all super popular in the clubs and helped to define the genre. An early classic from The Streets' debut album follows, and then DJ Deekline's fun I Don't Smoke, Zed Bias and ending the disc with Lethal Bizzle in his More Fire Crew with the top ten hit Oi.

Disc 4 is where we focus both on the 2007/8 revival of the genre, and some of the pop songs that had big garage influence from the time. Starting with the song that brought it back to the mainstream and to No.2 in the charts, T2's Heartbroken, and then another No.2 hit from a few months later, What's It Gonna Be by H "Two" O with Platnum, and Delinquent's recently reactivated viral revival My Destiny, which was a hit in 2008. Jaimeson's 2003 hit True and the popular 1998 cover of Teardrops by Lovestation are next before a famous Sneaker Pimps remix from Armand Van Helden, Doolally (aka Shanks & Bigfoot) and more from Oxide & Neutrino, DJ Luck & MC Neat and a third appearance from Artful Dodger, with their other top five hit. More covers from Colour Girl and Distant Soundz appear, as do pop acts Liberty (before the X), Boom! and 3rd Edge, who were marketed with that garage production style. Garage Jams, another song from the 2008 revival, follows, before we go back to the early 2000s for Ramsey & Fen's Love Bug, and hits from Cleptomaniacs, another from Genius Cru, and the other top three hit from So Solid Crew. We end the album with 2008 song You Wot! from DJ Q, and the famous Ed Case/Sweetie Irie refix of Clint Eastwood by Gorillaz that was pushed in the UK at the time and helped it into the top five!

Thanks Jade! Hope you enjoy, I've been down a garage rabbit hole these last few weeks and made some great discoveries, as well as rediscovering many old favourites!

I also meant to say thanks to @awardinary for support and for getting the remix names and featuring acts present and correct, and @Colm for his work on the cover. The image is an actual garage near my work, which seemed to have a perfect colour scheme 😂

It is really a pity that a lot is missing from Spotify particularly from 97/98, when it was Speed Garage. I understand that only one of the long Armand van Helden Mixes made it on this compilation due to time constraints, but his mixes of Professional Widow (Tori Amos), Sugar Is Sweeter (CJ Bolland) and Runaway (NuYorican Soul) are all classics.
