February 14, 20241 yr Author Regarding making a choice of which yearly compilation to include a song on - the song's year of release would almost always be the obvious year to choose, rather than the year following its release - and what I was trying to say is that I miss when it was clear cut like that, which I find was more the case pre-streaming era. I don't agree that it's almost always. I even have examples of Now annuals where the song actually peaked in the year of release but ended up on the following year's annual edition. I think we will be going on what makes most sense or what allows us to include include more significant hits, over all. Looking at the 1989 compilation, we chose Inner City's Good Life so that we could include Big Fun in 1988 even though Good Life was released in 1988. Edited February 14, 20241 yr by Colm
February 14, 20241 yr We've heard you! We ignored it all :teresa: just kidding, obviously You want Legends, Statements, and Stars! Well hunny.... the full track listing comes out tomorrow; for now enjoy some more teasers! Have any of your 2017 faves made the track listing so far? Any personal chart Number 1s? Tell us! And get ready for tomorrow!
February 14, 20241 yr I don't agree that it's almost always. I even have examples of Now annuals where the song actually peaked in the year of release but ended up on the following year's annual edition. Oh, well, it’s just my perception / preference that I was expressing! I personally liked when the year of release was more often than not the year that I associate it with. Another example, Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder on the Dancefloor is firmly a 2001 hit to me, despite coming out in December of that year - rather than feeling that it’s more 2002!
February 14, 20241 yr I was thinking 'New Rules' was going to open a disc but more likely disc 1 so that leaves the song possibly to open that one maybe being 'Despacito' perhaps.
February 15, 20241 yr The Buzzjack label is proud to present its latest collection! We present Buzzjack Presents: 2017! We have worked together to present 4 CDs of songs and artists that really defined the year in music! Kicking things off is the artist of the year with the song of the year Ed Sheeran and Shape of You, a Grammy award winning UK No. 1 single! Following it a selection of other big chart hits from the world of R&B/Rap with French Montana, DJ Khalid & Friends, and Camila Cabello. It also featured big pop hits from Rita Ora, Shawn Mendes, and Anne-Marie. Finishing off with floorfillers from Jonas Blue, Sigala, and The Chainsmokers. Disc 1 is just an appetizer of what else is to come on the other discs! Disc 2 showcases the Latin-Pop takeover with the unstoppable hit Despacito (Remix) by Luis Fonsi/Daddy Yankee/Justin Bieber, and big hits from Enrique Iglesias, and Little Mix & CNCO. Further down is the amazing R&B/Rap/HipHop songs that set the scenes for the year with big names like Jay-Z, BRIT Award winner Stormzy, and Kendrick Lamar. Ending with the Alternative Anthems that were on heavy rotation on stations like Radio 1, Kerrang, and "other cool stations'. Rock out to Kasabian, Imagine Dragons, and The Killers. Think of this disc as the BRIT Awards Album we should've had for 2018. Disc 3 is pure pop pleasure! Pop Princesses like Dua Lipa, Little Mix, Lady Gaga, and Kesha rub shoulders with Male Heartthrobs Olly Murs, and Justin Bieber. We also shine a light on some of the latest and greatest singer-songwriters with artists like Lorde, HAIM, and Shania Twain (who reached No. 1 with her album "Now" after a long hiatus). Disc 4 starts of with emotional ballads, including Harry Styles' debut single (and UK No. 1) Sign of the Times, Ed Sheeran's Perfect, and P!nk's poweful "What About Us". We're soon picking up the pace with Dance-Pop bangers from Jax Jones (You Don't Know Me feat. RAYE), and Clean Bandit & Zara Larsson's No. 1 "Symphony". We head to the clubs with Dance Anthems MK, Disciples, and Camelphat & Elderbrook, and finally ending it all with Steps' fantastic Scared of the Dark! We hope this album is enjoyable and depicts the best songs, artists, and memories of 2017! Please enjoy and let us know what you think. Also, yes Loreen didn't make it, but we should all actually morn the loss of 'Go To Work' by Nadine.
February 15, 20241 yr Man's Not Hot, Never Hot! :cheeseblock: Dimelo is surely a guilty pleasure. I actually love it back then hearing it for the first time in 2018. What About Us, idk why it's so saturated in Buzzjack (judging from the ROTD). Issa bop as well, especially the Cash Cash Remix which is more energetic ofc.
February 16, 20241 yr Author Great work, Spiral. It was great fun working with you and awardinary on this - not that I did very much but the chats were fun, nonetheless. :D
