I am cool so I arranged some remaining holiday days to coincide with this, will probably do what I did for the General Election which was stay awake as long as possible, then fall asleep at 5am once the direction of travel is pretty much known (we hope!!).

I am definitely up for overanalyzing counties in Indiana in the middle of the night, this is the sort of stuff I live for.

Really buying into the idea that older midwestern women are absolutely turning out in droves for Harris because of Dodds/abortion, that would be glorious.

At the start of the year (when it looked like a 2020 Biden/Trump rematch) I had mentally prepared myself for a Trump win, so anything other than that will be not only a massive relief but will feel like a huge win. I'm trying not to get too excited but the signs do appear to be increasingly positive for Harris at this stage. Utter madness that Trump even had or has the slightest chance IMO, completely unhinged considering what happened on 6 January 2021, let alone everything else towards the end of his Presidency.
Yeh I am off this week so will stay up, although I forgot that they are 6 hours behind us so maybe will get up around 1-2am, do love a bit of Wolfie and Kingo on CNN with the magic wall showing the stats, ‘that's what we do in this country, we do the math, we have to count the votes’!

Opening polling stations, having a holiday for voting, and not deregistering voters would help them with that x

A good friend in Washington said to me that trump will easily win, he’s up with black and Hispanic voters and on all the big issues except abortion.

I'm on annual leave for Monday to Wednesday this week (I may or may not have purposefully timed this to coincide with the election) so I'll absolutely be staying up, I don't think I could sleep even if I wanted to

The demographic shifts are a bit of a wash considering Harris is improving on Biden's margin with white voters according to the same polls. These apparent gains with especially Hispanic voters will help Trump in a couple of the swing states (I'm expecting he'll flip Arizona back at least, unless the Iowa poll is really spot on and every other poll is herding to avoid predicting a Kamalandslide) but they're less relevant to the rust belt which is all Kamala really needs.

Genuinely have no idea what way this one is going to go. Think it’d be a terrible message for humanity if Kamala won. You can essentially fund the worst evil known to man and still be heralded due to human impulses to revert to lifelong biases and tribalism.
As if the other option would be any better :kink:

What? :rofñ:  Jesús CHRIST!!!! One is a fascist. One is Kamala Harris, the vice president, who supports, but does not make decisions for, the Boden administration. Read up on what Trump has said about Israel and Palestine. There is no comparison. None.

Wha??

Is Kamala funding the Trump campaign? That’s the only way any of this makes any sense.

I suspect Kamala will end up winning quite comfortably. Seems the polls are 50/50 as the pollsters are worried about getting things badly wrong so sitting on the fence.

But, as always, the mask slips!! Trump is embarrassing. He is a necon plutocrat fascist dictator-loving conman. THAT is the bad message to humanity, not a highly intelligent , although neoliberal, politician.

Tbf surely Kamala is more of a neo con than Trump. Trump is more of a populist alt right winger!

If you replace Kamala with Trump in that post it'd make a lot more sense and be a lot more redeemable.

On Trump's side if he wins:

Pulling funding from Ukraine, helping Russia in their unjust war

Upholding abortion bans and seeking to roll them out, causing suffering for women across the USA

Related to the above, promotion of 'family values' aka. violence against women within patriarchal marriages, as shown by Trump's personal conduct and treatment of women

Attempted deportations of millions within the US

Fascist rhetoric and implications on subverting democracy.

Yet MORE funding to Israel and Netanyahu's preferred choice.

On Kamala's side if she wins:

Probable continuation of the status quo of the US's rogue ally (the one who is actually culpable) committing war crimes while the Democrats try to disentangle themselves (note that Kamala's statements, as VP and therefore of limited decision-making authority in the Biden administration, have pretty much been as pro-Palestine as an establishment US politician will be allowed to be).

Additional point on that horrific post, describing Israel's horrific actions as 'the worst evil known to man' is language that I would judge to be anti-semitic. Israel's evils are equivalent to dictators in Russia, Syria, Iran, or just a rather belligerent warlord - describing it in that fashion implies something a bit beyond that.

Agreed with all of this, and I overlooked that last point, but yes! The language is extreme and diminishes the absolute WORST of humanity throughout histoey

Anyone staying up Wed? I'll go to bed as nothing will happen before 2am here, then get up early. Hope we know by 9 as have to take dog to vet then. Abscess on her face from a bad tooth so going to pull tooth and drain it.

I will stay up for most of the night to follow the results and everything on CNN. Even if the the decisive outcome doesn't come until much later in the day on Wednesday (or past Wednesday if 2020 is anything to go by) it will still be fascinating to watch it unfold. I still remember John King from the 2020 election, he was really on fire then
