To celebrate the biggest streaming year for Kylie I am holding this small countdown.

I parsed the total streams for Kylie's songs on 1st January of last year and of this year, so we can see how the different Kylie tracks evolved during this year.

Overall Kylie had an increase by 614 million streams of what I was tracking. Compared to 2 billion streams that she had a year before, the streams for Kylie on Spotify increased by a third!

Rules for the countdown are as follows:

1. The streams were counted from 1st of January of 2023 till 31st of December of 2023.

2. The "chart rules" are applied, as in all of the remixes and different versions, including live versions, are combined into one.

3. However, for the mashups that give a different name to the song (i.e. Extension 'Can't Get Blue Monday out of My Head' and some live versions like 'Slow / Being Boiled') the streams are counted separately. Versions of songs in different languages count together.

4. Generally I didn't include the songs which are under 1 minute long (those are some intros and reprises from the live versions)

5. For the 'previous position' section I used the positions ranged by the amount of streams gained from August of 2020 till August of 2022, since I didn't have the data for the whole years before. I also don't have the data for the 2020 streams for a couple of songs (mainly her less known features), so for those the streams and therefore the chart positions were estimated. But nevertheless, this could give a good idea of the dynamics of the songs throughout the recent years.

I am also willing to give some extra stats which I found interesting, so I hope this will be a nice read for you!

95 Let It Snow

96 Like a Drug

97 Only You (with James Corden)

98 Put Yourself in My Place

99 Fine Wine

100 Please Stay

Bit of a deadwood section here, however we need to note 'Let It Snow', which increased in its position despite 15 new tracks being above it, as well as 'Aphrodite' title track holding steady (and also being one of the few examples of album tracks before 'DISCO' era and outside the festive songs being present in this countdown, along with 'Like a Drug').

Another section of many big free-fallers which will probably leave the top-100 next year. 'Je Ne Sais Pas Pourqoui' however had a healthy year and gained a bit compared to the previously observed period.

Music's too sad without you, like a drug and what do I have to do are huge faves of mine and too low but least they are in the top 100. I really like fine wine aswell but didn't expect it to be top 100.

can i be greedy and ask for the total streams for each song for the year?

Thank you :D

I'm posting those in the images, do they load? And I'll post a full list in text once I finish the countdown.

I'm a fan of all of these, and 'Music's Too Sad...' is almost the sole representative of the 'Golden' era here, so it stood the test of time. :D

Music's Too Sad while never charted has done fairly well on picking up sales, id love to know what its sales totals are now and I'm pleasantly surprised its the sole representative on the list from the golden era as if i was putting a bet on i would have thought dancing or stop me from falling would be higher.
Thank you :D

Yes they do now. Thanks!

Almost the sole representation, not the sole representation! Dancing and Stop Me From Falling are bound to be higher.

Thanks for working on this perrobueno, I look forward to the rest! Please Stay and Put Yourself in My Place deserve more. :(

Ah love all this data! Thanks for posting - looking forward to the further updates.

I'm putting the yearly figures for the songs in case the pics don't load

71-80

71-80.png

71    Starstruck    Other - feature    814 275
72    Last Chance    DISCO    784 959
73    Monday Blues    DISCO    775 688
74    Turn It into Love    Kylie    733 064
75    Light Years    Light Years    711 360
76    Into the Blue    Kiss Me Once    621 939
77    More More More    Fever    613 593
78    Winter Wonderland    Kylie Christmas    607 368
79    Never Too Late    Enjoy Yourself    575 220
80    Wouldn't Change a Thing    Enjoy Yourself    572 342

In this section we have more climbers, like 'More More More' - which paced up quite nicely. Probably had the big boost due to it being the first track of Kylie's most popular album during her resurgence.

Title tracks for the albums generally somehow have the advantage, as we can see several times throughout the countdown (maybe the casual listeners are checking them out more frequently?), but with 'Light Years' the extra push came from 'Infinite Disco', where it is one of the most listened to tracks.

What I can't explain is the rise of 'Turn It Into Love' which even overtook the single 'Je Ne Sais Pas Pourqoui'! But here it is.

And finally, we have the two singles from 'Enjoy Yourself' with almost identical streams, placing at numbers 79 and 80.

61    Step Back in Time    Rhythm of Love    1 203 553

63    Where Does the DJ Go?    DISCO    1 112 896
64    Voices    Other - feature    1 057 570
65    Dance Floor Darling    DISCO    1 022 219
66    I Was Gonna Cancel    Kiss Me Once    986 564
67    Got to Be Certain    Kylie    928 362
68    Fever    Fever    909 822
69    2 Hearts    X    905 847
70    Devotion    Other - feature    836 734

Now we go to the big figures, with 65 songs cumulatively making it to more than 1 million streams in 2023. Kylie finally starts to get on streaming what she always deserved.

The first new entry, slightly overshadowed 'Voices' collab with Jake Shears, has managed to nip over 1 millions streams in the end, and is sandwiched at 64 between the two 'DISCO' album tracks, which both still managed to gain over 1 million streams on their 4th calendar year of release. Maybe 'DISCO' didn't produce its signature hit, like 'Tension' and to a lesser extent 'Golden', but as a body of work it got a big boost to Kylie's streaming numbers.

'Devotion' is one of the tracks I had to estimate its 2020 streams, so I am not entirely sure whether its rise is genuine, but nevertheless it shows a great staying power.

'I Was Gonna Cancel' is not a single which is loved a lot by the fanbase, but in the 2023's streaming it became the highest track from 'Kiss Me Once' by the amount of Spotify streams. I have a soft spot for this song, but it is a shame that it started to overshadow a much superior 'Into the Blue'.

Turn it into love considering how old it is and also it wasn't a single in most countries.

I was gona cancel well it just shouldn't be there let alone that high.

Poor Into the Blue, it’s declined fast since it started out well.

IWGC definitely benefited long term following its use on RuPaul years ago.

The PWL hits were added later to streaming and I think many of the tracks took a while to gain traction…Turn it into Love one of them, as is SBIT.

For some reason I thought your disco needs you might have made the top 50 but again for a almost a non single its doing well.

2 hearts doing OK considering its not a big fan fave.

59    Kiss of Life    DISCO    1 264 050
60    Slow / Love to Love You Baby    DISCO    1 224 041

In this section the first 'Tension' tracks start to appear - specifically the bonus tracks, with the closing 'Somebody to Love' being the highest of this batch.

'Slow / Love to Love You Baby' got a life on its own after being featured in 'Infinite Disco' and had a very good year overall.

'Christmas Wrapping' managed to climb a bit, as well as 'Tears on My Pillow'. 'Tears on My Pillow' got a better fate than 'Hand on Your Heart', which fell a bit but still stayed the highest track from 'Enjoy Yourself' on Spotify Streaming and now making it over 10 million streams across all versions (main version is still on 8.5 million streams though).

'Confide in Me' is the highest Kylie song from all of the DeConstruction era. Deserved to be the highest, but deserves so much higher in the overall list.

49    Story    Tension    1 795 884
50    Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here    Kylie Christmas    1 750 812

As a sign of how big the certain song was this year, 'Can't Get Blue Monday out of My Head' almost made it to the top-40 of the Kylie songs reaching over 2 million streams.

Three more 'Tension' tracks fall off here, that didn't get us that high, but nevertheless almost 2 million streams in just over three months is nothing to be ashamed of.

We lose 'Dancing' here which got into a bit of a slump. Hopefully it stabilises at some point. Like did 'The One' by only losing one spot despite 8 new entries above it. Or 'Red Blooded Woman' which even rose one place with 10 new entries above it.

And there is another Christmas song rising, making the overall movement very hectic compared to the previous periods.

I have always loved cant get blue monday out of my head its a great version and i will forever love the Brit performance of it, dancing also doing well at number 42 and the one also holding up well at number 44 although i would have liked for all 3 to have been top 40.
