So it’s been revealed that Down Under has officially dropped ‘RuPaul’s’ from its title and that Michelle will be the new host for the next season when it airs later this year!

 

What’s your thoughts? Is Down Under the correct iteration of the franchise to launch Michelle hosting Drag Race, with the inevitability of her potentially taking on more down the line? Are you excited for it?

I think they should just give it to Spankie or Kita tbh, particularly as Kita already has experience and hosted House Of Drag. I know everyone says Courtney Act, but that will never ever happen with her relationship with WOW.

 

I don’t mind Michelle doing it though, compared to Ru I do think she actually has an appreciation for the culture of different countries when she judges, moreso the UK but still. There are also queens from Down Under judging on rotation apparently and I assume other Ru girls as one has definitely gone and filmed, which I think more franchises should do! I love when Canada, Spain and Belgique have done that.

In the workroom by herself she was so obviously a winner :lol:

This seems like it could be a bit of an art and craft season with the exception of a few queens :kink: judging was spot on - Olivia, Karna and Lucina weren't great, but I'm glad nobody went home so we can get to know them all a bit more as that episode seemed to go by in a flash!

 

Early favourites are Lazy Susan, Max and Nikita. Really don't think any of them are going to come close to touching the kind of drag Lazy Susan has already shown, so we'll see :lol:

 

Seems like Michelle has basically been told she has to follow the Ru-script too and it felt quite unnatural and forced for her. She's more than capable of holding the torch for the franchise, so why can't they just let her put her own spin on things? Even Brooke with Canada seems to be able to deviate more from Ru's script while still following the same format and it feels natural so hopefully it works and Michelle finds her rhythm.

Lazy Susan is walking this :lol: Like it’s a cute cast but she has been leagues ahead of everyone two weeks in a row now.

 

I’m beginning to feel like I can’t stand Vybe though, she kind of has that Kween Kong energy where she has to snipe something into every conversation at the expense of someone else and it sometimes feels less like shade and more just mean.

Lucina staying over Olivia seems a bit wtf to me? Neither were great in the challenge, but Olivia seemed like she had so much more potential and was better in the lip-sync. Was kinda picturing an Elektra Shock arc.

That snatch game seemed criminally short :unsure: should've just left it until later in the series, or had them all there as one big group. I like the freshening up of the concept, but yeah something was off.

 

Brenda and Mandy were on point this week with Kath & Kim thought Nikita was a goner in that lip-sync (thankfully not!) but Karna was on borrowed time.

Vybe was lowkey robbed for that Snatch Game, not mad at Brenda getting a win and she was smart with it but I wanted so much more from a Kath and Kim SG! That was such a short Snatch Game though and it didn’t do it much good being split into two groups either. It’s not like Snatch Game Of Love where it was about the format either, the format didn’t actually lend anything to it. Also I feel like Susan would have won again if she did one of her zany choices, I can’t fathom why she went for the most sterile one and did nothing with it.

 

Honestly Karna at least tried something, I’d have had just Nikita and Max in the bottom personally, they were both awful and I’m sick of these made up characters. What do you mean TWO people brought Mrs Claus?!

Kinda thought Freya would end up going home, but she did bring it in that lip-sync to be fair. Shame to see Lucina go as she was clearly still holding back a bit and taking her time to warm up, but ah well. You just know Vybe is seething inside knowing she's still not had a win :lol:

I can’t believe this of all franchises had the girls absolutely destroying a design challenge, I think Max or even Brenda could have been top for a lot of others design challenges (bar Brenda’s reveal flop) and Vybe or Nikita absolutely could have won any other season but Mandy completely devoured, it’s insane she made that under timed conditions in the workroom.

Lazy Susan has kind of fell off :lol: Idk like she absolutely destroyed the first two episodes and felt so fresh and unique, in a different league to the others, now she has just played it so safe and kind of dull for 3 episodes now. By contrast Vybe who I started off not being keen on at all has really come into her own.

lol yea i was thinking that after this episode. she really has gone from main character to wallpaper in the space of 2 weeks.

 

But... Vybe winning this episode... Wearing THAT?! And putting her sister in the exact same outfit too?! Really?

 

I would have had her bottom 3 ngl. Mandy was definitely above her this week (and I normally love Vybe)

Yeah I really don't get why Vybe was so loved this week lmao? That was basic as.

 

I'm so glad Nikita is getting her flowers now though, these past few episodes she has been absolutely amazing and really coming into her own. Gorgeous runway moment for her :wub:

If this gets a fifth season they really need to step up with the challenges because wtf was that?? If none of the queens (bar Lazy) can actually hit the brief how they want them to then what's the point?

 

Will miss Max but at least she managed to make it this far after seeing some rumours about her being eliminated in episode 3 :lol: Nikita not to land in the bottom again and make it to the final please x

I watched the first ep of Series 4 the other day and did enjoy it - although the critiques felt a bit lacking at times.

 

I'll see if I can binge the rest before the final... but we shall see :D
