March 29, 20242 yr Author 22 | 14 | 6th week Calvin Harris and Rag'n'Bone Man Lovers In A Past Life Non-album single Released: 16th February 2024 Label: Sony Music Entertainment UK Chart Statistics NE (29/02/2024) | 19-13-14-19-14-22 Sales: 70k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 04 Sales 23 Audio Streaming 00 Video Streaming Video uksTezIJqA4 Biography Talk about an unexpected career trajectory. In 2007, 23-year-old Calvin Harris released I Created Disco, a cheeky shot across dance music’s bow that presented him as Scotland’s brow-arched answer to LCD Soundsystem. Fast-forward a few years, and the scruffy fellow playing house-party host in the “Merrymaking at My Place” video is suddenly baring oil-slicked abs on Emporio Armani billboards. What happened, of course, is that Harris (born Adam Richard Wiles in 1984) traded up from the Amiga computer of his teens, developed some of the best studio chops in the business with deep-house rollers like 2013's “Thinking About You”, and helped spark EDM’s pop crossover with hits for Rihanna, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding and others. Along the way, he became one of the 2010s’ first DJ/producer/songwriter polymaths to earn top billing even on the songs in which he didn’t sing. No stranger to pyro-lit main stages—his percussive, synth-strafed 2014 single “C.U.B.A.” is big-room house at its most gargantuan—Harris has resisted getting boxed into any one sound. On 2017’s Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, he lays down a set of slinky R&B jams for Frank Ocean, Migos and Young Thug, while the 2018 singles “Promises”, with Sam Smith, and “One Kiss”, with Dua Lipa, proved just how versatile his vision of pop can be. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Calvin Harris 2007 10 Acceptable In The 80s -1- 2007 03 The Girls -2- 2007 43 Merrymaking At My Place -3- 2008 01 Dance Wiv Me (Dizzee Rascal feat. The singer and MC, born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1993, is a self-made superstar, having built his fanbase organically online before inking a deal for his 2015 debut LP, T R A P S O U L. That title spells out Tiller’s artistic vision, and on the big hit from that album, “Don’t,” he lands somewhere between Lil Wayne and Omarion, his two biggest inspirations. While he’s indebted to the artists he grew up listening to, Tiller has carved his own niche unoccupied by anyone else in rap or R&B. Tiller’s voice is classically beautiful, but he stands out, thanks to the way he’s able to mutate it depending on the style of music he’s creating. Tiller rocketed to superstardom with his star-turning performance on DJ Khaled’s 2017 smash “Wild Thoughts,” which also features Rihanna. In Summer Walker’s 2019 song “Playing Games (Extended Version),” Tiller fluidly moves from singing to rapping, blurring the line between the two. Tiller is a reclusive artist, hesitant to reveal much of his personal life unless doing so through music. This only adds to his mystique and continues to set him apart at a time when oversharing is so prevalent on social media. In his life and his career, Bryson Tiller plays by his own rules. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2016 71 Don't -1- 2017 01 Wild Thoughts (DJ Khaled feat. March 29, 20242 yr Author 20 | | 1st week Future, Metro Boomin and Travis Scott Cinderella Album track from WE DON'T TRUST YOU Released: 22nd March 2024 Label: Wilburn Holding Co / Boominati Worldwide Chart Statistics NE (04/04/2024) | 20 Sales: - Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 00 Sales 00 Audio Streaming 00 Video Streaming Video onP2eoO7byc Biography Future There’s a good anecdote that Future recounted in an interview—about getting into an argument with a guy who was worried about one of the Atlanta rapper’s engineers. The engineer hadn’t left the studio in a week. Had he even eaten? Don’t worry, Future said—he himself hadn’t left in a week, either, and someone was bringing in Wendy’s from up the block. Barely a season goes by without new music from the rapper born Nayvadius Wilburn (in 1983)—whether it’s a mixtape, solo album or collaborative project (with Drake, with Gucci Mane, with the producer Zaytoven). But prolific isn’t the half of it. Druggy, raw, slick and surreal, Future’s sound—crystallised on highlights like 2014’s Honest, 2015’s DS2 and 2017’s HNDRXX—has helped redefine 2010s street rap as something strange and almost avant-garde: trap as modern psychedelia. Not that it isn’t melodic too. Like fellow Atlantan and collaborator Young Thug, Future has a way of bending his voice (often using Auto-Tune) into soulful, often sad shapes, half-rapped and half-sung—the sound of a crooner stuck in space. “The biggest thing is just being yourself all the time,” he told Beats 1 host Zane Lowe in early 2017. “When you try and be yourself all the time, everyone’s not gonna like it. But you gotta wake up with that person. At the end of the day, you can be able to look at the person and be like, You know what, I know I’m being myself; I’m not being anyone else. And that’s the greatest thing about this: It’s me being myself.” - Apple Music Metro Boomin When the boy who would become Metro Boomin (Leland Tyler Wayne, born 1993) decided he was going to get serious about the rap thing, he intercepted his mother after work with a thick green folder—part dossier, part wish list, part five-year plan. Mom was impressed. He’d already been making beats for a few years, pestering A&Rs on Twitter, crowbarring some connections. He’d even gotten paid a few times. By the time he graduated from high school, he and Mom were making eight-hour-long car trips from St. Louis to Atlanta so Metro could work with Gucci Mane and OJ da Juiceman—contingent, of course, on him keeping his spot on the honour roll. A few months into his freshman year at Morehouse, it became clear that the balance was too tough to keep up. Mom chewed him out. But the work—glossy, atmospheric monsters that pushed trap to cinematic extremes—had too much traction to ignore. The green folder bore out. Future (“Mask Off”, “Low Life”), Migos (“Bad and Boujee”), Post Malone (“Congratulations”), 21 Savage (“Bank Account”), Kodak Black (“Tunnel Vision”): Just a sampling of what followed is some of the most definitive rap of the 2010s, tracks that—alongside the work of collaborators and fellow Atlantans Sonny Digital, Southside, TM88 and Zaytoven—reshaped hip-hop’s sound, feel and culture. That Metro tackled longer-form projects—full-length collaborations, executive productions—not only made him unusually well-known for a producer, but suggested a broader vision, a transcending of the day-to-day business of beatmaking in favour of building a movement. After a handful of years sharing top billing and a baker’s dozen of platinum records in the bag, he released his own album, 2018’s NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES, a couple of months past his 25th birthday. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Future 2013 44 Love Me (Lil Wayne feat. The Norwegian producer (born Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll in 1991) cut his teeth crafting bootleg remixes of songs like Lana Del Rey’s “Born to Die” and James Blake’s “The Wilhelm Scream,” fleshing out the originals with contrasting touches: EDM drops inspired by his fondness for Avicii and ruminative melodies reflective of his childhood piano studies. In 2013, layering an a cappella of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” over dancing marimbas and a teasingly measured 4/4 beat, he hit upon his slow-motion signature. The following year, he was called up to replace an ailing Avicii on Tomorrowland’s main stage, and his relaxed, sunny vibe stopped EDM’s harder-faster-louder ethos in its tracks. Kygo’s dreamy, pioneering tropical house—encapsulated in singles like the lilting “Firestone” and his even-more-weightless remix of a-ha’s “Take On Me”—cast its influence across the pop music landscape, reaching as far as Skrillex, Diplo, and Justin Bieber’s smash, “Where Are Ü Now,” and securing Kygo collabs with Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Miguel, and Imagine Dragons. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Kygo 2015 08 Firestone (feat.
