Better the Devil You know is 34 years old and an utter Kylie classic, its a song that lead the way to the longevity that Kylie went on to endure, at the time it may not have been seen that way but it was one of those special moments where the world started to see Kylie very differently and for many i think the video completely helped seperate Kylie from Charlene for those who to this point still saw her as Charlene.. To this day its brilliant and deserves to be among her signature hits.

A very special song, the very best of PWL.

Everything Kylie had quickly learned in the previous 2 years came together beautifully in the video.

It deserves way more views and streams than it’s currently achieves and needs a new epic performance. When she opened Showgirl in the corset…wow!

What a track.

I remember the rumblings at the time that Kylie had gone ‘too sexy’ and was losing her fans due her raunchy image  Amazing how times change.

I remember that aswell but also remember people liking the song who didn't like her singles prior to it.

Its def a song i wish it had gone number 1 as its better than most of the ones that did, but least its became iconic in a way to Kylie fans, id like to see this gain more on streaming but its highly unlikely.

Absolute classic

Funny anecdote: back in 2001’ish, I’d played Kylie’s followed by the Steps’ version to some mates who’d never heard of either artist or song. They thought Kylie’s was the newer version. Meaning to say - they were surprised the original was a decade old as they said it sounded fresher than the remake!

That sums up how I feel 34 years later - absolutely fresh, absolute classic and the 4 singles from ROL are perhaps the best ever 4 singles from any pop album. Infact I almost feel bummed that the media and Kylie herself consider songs like Head and now PP as her signature songs when this and ATL should be it.

Whilst she lost a lot of teeny bopper fans in the process, this became the start of her gay fan base and made her a dependable bankable “pink pound” artist. In the long run, that paid off so much more than doing a 3rd PWL pretty pop album that would have killed her career too like most PWL artists.

The video was beyond fab - she looked stunning and so confident. You could tell she was beginning to take a few things in her control and no longer wanted to be a puppet

I do wonder if steps version was the original would I love it more but as I love kylies version steps version never stood a chance with me although it's not bad by any means, it's just one of those songs that didn't excite me been covered, I think steps should have picked a less iconic kylie song to cover.

I do agree another pop album similar 2 her first albums would have put kylie in a dangerous position career wise so the timing of BTDYK was perfect and it shows that even in the early days kylie was extremely savvy when it came to making decisions about her career.

Probably my favourite Kylie song. An absolute classic. Never get bored of it.

I think most fans feel the same and never tire of it, it's a song I've personally always loved from the first time I heard it.

I think the Steps version is abysmal :puke2: Although strangely I've quite enjoyed it each time I've seen them do it live.

I'm the same never really liked the studio version but yet I LOVE it live it goes off!
