Farage being PM or Tory leader seems like a leftist type nightmare they project into reality as some sort of coping mechanism. Like saying your teams gonna lose when you want them to win. There is no possibility of those things. Farage ego is bad, reform were polling great as was he, he did not need to make those comments but he can't help himself.

It's what happens though, although the brand of politics of Farage and his backers is all around the US style, where usually, charisma and personality wins you an election. Just not sure it cuts through the same here, of course they will look at it and say he's getting his message across to more people. Just can't see him being Tory Leader, even if they welcome him back, clearly Truss/Braverman are going to try and take that mantle.

No wonder Reform are suing the company they hired to vet candidates. BBC has a nice round up of some of the most offensive stuff they've said

My understanding is that the company doesn’t carry out vetting. It just provides facilities for an organisation to do their own vetting. If that is the case, Reform haven’t got a leg to stand on. Being legless is, of course, not unusual for at least one of their members.

She’s still going to win her seat which is the crazy thing.

Keir Starmer’s people finally campaigning around here, I open up their leaflet and first thing I see is this guy talking about his dad being a toolmaker

Tories have finally suspended the two candidates involved in the betting scandal.

Only to now have a PPE wastage scandal of £1.4 billion of tax payer's money.

“ Met Police says they've received info from Gambling Commission alleging that five more officers placed bets related to timing of election.”

Met police coming out of this worse than the Tories is hard to achieve but also unsurprising

Well, it's nice to see Tories actually facing the consequences of their actions.

I know that it has happened before, but not enough in my view. It took years for people to realise what Boris Johnson is like even though it was clear in plain sight, for example.

In "there was no way the other parties weren't at it too" news, Labour have now suspending one of its parliamentary candidates, Kevin Craig of Central Suffolk & North Ipswich, after he bet on himself losing the seat. This was the seat where the sitting Tory MP defected to Labour. I doubt the bookies will honour this bet now.

I had expected there was likely to more stories coming out for prospective candidates, and I expect more to come out over the next few weeks, across all parties.

Not saying it was ok for Kevin Craig to do this but betting on the outcome of an election is a little different to betting on the date of the election that's being set by your own party.

Aside: the Welsh Tory who's been suspended over this scandal was in the only seat in Wales that YouGov's MRP had the Tories favoured in. Lol.

“ Labour will return the £100,000 Kevin Craig has donated to the party ” I guess he is showing a clear divide between him and the Tories in not tolerating anything sketchy

Not going to defend it but you do see the difference between betting on something you're prime minister decides and betting on an election result the public decides?

I'm more surprised bookies were even willing to offer him odds on losing giving how safe that seat is.

I agree there is a big difference since one result is determined and the other can win/lose but you technically could campaign less intensely or spend less money or not try and win etc so it’s still sketchy

Agreed. It's a good move from Labour. This story has cut through, so it shows a decisive difference and allows Labour to control their narative if the Tories try and spin it. Personally, don't think this looks good for anyone. Wonder if they might try and push some legislation for MPs not being allowed to bet on politics..

On a different topic, it's very noticeable here just how many hustings events there have been. Thankfully, most of them have covered the whole of Brighton & Hove (three constituencies), so the candidates can divvy them up between them. In some parts of the country, that won't be possible. It is also worth noting that Labour have attended so few of the events that some organisers have started to put out a chair for Labour with a cardboard cut-out in it.
