May 11, 20241 yr @1789302462597226728 EBU will be working overtime tonight with the crowd mute button
May 11, 20241 yr If the EBU are willing to make their bed, I'm happy to let them. I don't want any part of a Eurovision 2025 hosted by Israel at this moment. This part. Embarassing. Also this part. Alessandra has withdrawn from presenting jury votes for Norway tonight https://www.vg.no/rampelys/i/wgEVJG/eurovis...nnedEntry=44367 More of that PLEASE! https://www.vg.no/rampelys/i/wgEVJG/eurovis...nnedEntry=44370 Delegations from Ireland, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Portugal held a crisis meeting with the EBU yesterday, considering withdrawal. Sources are also saying a crisis meeting is happening now. I'm so glad people are actively speaking out. More more more!!!
May 11, 20241 yr EBU will be working overtime tonight with the crowd mute button So f***ing embarrassing to call this a non-political contest and actively silence the fans in the audience.
May 11, 20241 yr The anti-semitism I’m seeing from Eurovision fans is disgusting and really needs to be addressed.
May 11, 20241 yr gimme some boycotts pls lets make this juicy esp the countries that aint got a chance anyway c'mon olly
May 11, 20241 yr Author https://www.svt.se/kultur/senaste-nytt-om-e...0e038dcc895e0c3 EBU Director General: - I cannot look back and say that the EBU has made the wrong decision, he says in an interview with SVT. - We saw that Israel's TV company had not broken any of the EBU's rules regarding the competition. - I feel confident that it will go smoothly and am not worried about safety, says Curran.
May 11, 20241 yr 3 hours to go and the controversy continues, I would say its a tense stadium in Malmo right now and they have their work cut out for tonight to end without something going off. At least one of the contestants is surely going to say something at the end of their performance that will likely be bleeped out.
May 11, 20241 yr There will without a doubt be statements made at the end of performances, or flags - at this point I can see an act not performing or just standing on stage.
May 11, 20241 yr What an absolute mess that could have all been avoided. If Isreal win tonight or if they are not banned next year it’s only going to get worse.
May 11, 20241 yr The anti-semitism I’m seeing from Eurovision fans is disgusting and really needs to be addressed. What anti semetism are you seeing? Or do you mean anti Israel?
May 11, 20241 yr Saw the youtube of olly sheesh absolute garbage, UK will need a few more to withdraw if they want some points
May 11, 20241 yr Why should the UK and Ireland withdraw for Israel? I don't follow any of this and to be honest its annoying me.
May 11, 20241 yr I guess what I don’t understand is it’s been known for a very long time that Israel were performing. If a country had decided to boycott a month ago fair enough. They didn’t. I’m not seeing a material change in the circumstances now. There’s been leaked data suggesting Israel cojld landslide the televote which I find as concerning as everyone else but that’s not a reason to withdraw. The Dutch disqualification sounds very draconian but from what we know and from what they themselves have said it was not Israel related (OK the tense atmosphere no doubt played a part but still). So I can’t see a reason to withdraw NOW.

So I can’t see a reason to withdraw NOW. Often the reality of a situation can heighten tensions and emotions. Not to mention the apparently disgraceful way that the KAN delegation have been behaving and the now apparent Zionist campaign to propel Israel to victory to express their victimhood. All potentially predictable situations but ones that I think we all hoped wouldn't happen. The fact that they were potentially predictable means that if I were in charge of the EBU, I'd have ensured that such a controversial country could not compete in the contest and risk inflaming political tensions, but what do I know?
May 11, 20241 yr @1789317066039726298 Statement from AVROTROS The EBU is a disgusting shitshow of an organisation. The Dutch offered ways of reconciliation, the incident was minor, and they go all in with the most severe punishment? I honestly do not know what they were thinking in the slightest with this DSQ, all the information that has come out about it has made them look way out of their depth. I really hope there will be resignations from the EBU higher ups. There's no excuses for this.
May 11, 20241 yr But if the way of Israel not winning is for people to vote for someone else then why is the campaign not for that, mobilising around another entry, instead of withdrawing altogether and clearing the road for an Israel victory which will only ultimately increase their sphere of influence? I don't understand how this is different from when a dangerous electoral candidate is standing, deciding to not vote, even knowing that then damnsyou to live under that person's rule.
May 11, 20241 yr Why was it ok for Ukraine to enter and win with an explicitly political song in 2016 but Israel is crucified for having a song that some interpret to be political? It just seems so hypocritical to me, the same people that celebrated Jamala are attacking Eden
