Even though I like a few songs by the Chili Peppers I will never understand how that band are continually allowed to get away with being total scumbags without anyone really pulling them up on it. Everyone knew they were dodgy since the early '90s and it's not like their short on accusations of sexual abuse, Kiedis has openly admitted to knowingly carrying out statutory child rape on a 14 year old (without any apparent remorse to this day), has a history of dating minors (US age) and they were in part culpable for inciting the rioting at Woodstock '99.

Yet nobody ever seems to care. Weird

Never been a fan of Backstreet Boys, Busted, Corrs or Wham!

The backstreet boys with the most ‘voters’ so far!!

Spiceboy selecting RHCP must be because he wrote a song about Melanie C 😉

I actually think that song is shit. 😂

Like a few chilli songs, under the bridge is my favourite, so raw.

Some facts for the top 50

9 climbers into the top 50, including 2 from outside the top 100.

12 all female groups

All 8 of the Buzzjack artist forum groups are in top 50

Aww, that's a big loss at the end, still not a bad showing. I guess Win Butler's actions did (understandably) put people off this time. I sadly feel that's the end of them as a group, but I can't be dishonest. Arcade Fire's music is so beautifully composed and Funeral is one of my all time favourite albums.

RHCP have a lot of classics for me and the albums I've heard from them are brill too although I agree with Mango on two discs for Stadium Arcadium being a bit of a stretch.

Wham! have some decent songs but looking back 11 points was probably a bit too much oops as I'm not as into them hugely on reflection. 'Freedom' and 'Wake Me Up..' are both great records though.

Nice to see plenty of support for RHCP and Arcade Fire even without my help - they had my 28 and 29 points respectively last time and would possibly be top 40 had I voted that way again... however for the reasons mentioned above in respect of both, I think there will always be some blurring of the lines between art and artists in these rates, and that's one of the reasons why I took free rein in changing my voting criteria this time around.

I'll have to suggest The Beach Boys for the next rate in the retro forum, either they've made a huge leap into the top 50 or, more likely, they've been snubbed without my 18 points from last time and some re-evaluation is needed :D

Very nice climb for TLC

Still 20 acts left for me in top 50! ❤️

Nice climb for TLC

Be interesting to see which group ‘forum’ is the first to leave!

Perhaps unsurprisingly for someone with mainly indie & alternative taste, a lot of my favourites have fallen before the top 50. Arcade Fire the latest biggie to go, consistently strong with every album having at least a couple of absolute worldies on it and Funeral in particular being an all time classic. I went to their tour the week after the allegations about Win Butler broke and it was a weird vibe, so can understand why they might have been swerved by a few folk in this rate.

Funeral is an absolute classic of an album. I like both Neon Bible and Suburbs very much too but they drop off fast for me after that. Hated Reflektor for example.

I'm with you in having a taste that is not aligned with the general preference on the site, so much so that even the Indie forum is a too mainstream for me in as a whole. I've got 2 acts left from my list and they're both bands where I love their early work but there came a point where they shifted to a much more 'mainstream alternative' sound and lost me a bit. Anyone who knows me won't find it hard to work them out.

However, I'm more than happy to prop up the bottom of the table in that sense. If It'd been a list of favourite band regardless of chart hits I'd still have them same two in it but it would have wiped out half my list anyway. None of my list has had a top 40 hit since 2010 and most of my favourites have never had one.

Be interesting to see which group ‘forum’ is the first to leave!

I predict Take That! (Edit: Although I checked and last time they were 5th out of the 8!)
