I read the post you quoted and was going to say the same thing. lol

Clearly the Saturdays are well loved on the site but I must admit that I couldn't hum any of their songs - I think I would recognise Up if I heard it as I remember thinking that one was okay, but for me they were always well below the standard set by other girl bands such as Sugababes, Little Mix, Girls Aloud, Spice Girls, All Saints etc. I've always been surprised by the level of love they get here.

 

 

A shame to see Radiohead falling this time - but it's more a case of being surprised that they were as high as they were last time around as top 20 is still good given the site's typical preference for pop music.

Coldplay have consistently had at least one great song per album ('Coloratura' and 'Daddy' saving the last couple), but I haven't been enamoured enough by their new singles to chart either of those - would have come too late for this rate anyway - still 400 points is a great score to just miss the top 10.

I may have drifted away from Coldplay's more recent eras ('Coloratura' aside) but Glastonbury was a timely reminder that I do enjoy plenty of their back catalogue, 'The Scientist' being my favourite.

So some new entries in the top 10! :o

Great to see the artists spread out in terms of points compared with last year. And impressive that 3 groups have leapfrogged Destiny’s Child and Coldplay to climb into the top 10!

 

Last time the top 6 were close to each other but many points ahead of the chasing pack. I wonder if the same six groups will pull ahead this year too.

Remember when Coldplay used to be good? I find them very watered down these days but their first three albums were solid, A Rush Of Blood To The Head is a particularly brilliant album. My favourite Coldplay songs are probably all their early ballads - 'Yellow', 'Trouble', 'The Scientist' and 'Fix You' :wub:

3 acts new to the top 10 as we move to 1 elimination per day! Every act in the top 10 got at least 21 voters and only 1 act failed to get 30 points from any voter.

Ooft that's a heavy loss right before the top 10 </3 Feel like all my big favourites dropped out now, trying to remember where those last 60 points came from (deleted my voting PM annoyingly).

 

Coldplay came about at the right time of my life that I can't really see anyone else topping them as my favourite band, their new material is largely inferior and sellout but they still manage to surprise me sometimes, and live they are pretty much unmatched.

Yes! Say My Name & Jumpin Jumpin are also both very good.

 

It's an obvious one that I've to give max points to Coldplay because they're THE music group. Though I haven't checked their early album tracks, I can confirm that we can sing along to lots of Coldplay songs.

 

The Scientist, Yellow, Viva La Vida, Fix You, A Sky Full of Stars, Adventure of a Lifetime, Hymn For The Weekend, Up&Up, and Orphans are my favorite singles. Coloratura is an underrated gem!

 

Such a shame that I haven't heard any of their album tracks being used on TikTok, unlike pop singers & bands. I guess 'true fans' still have that "Please don't let this become viral on TikTok" mindset. :lol:

Don't mind Destiny's child. There's a few songs I really like - Survivor, Bootylicious, Independent Women for example and Beyonce has prven herself a genuine creative talent.

Destiny’s Child were great for a while… the run of 7 singles from “Bills Bills Bills” to “Bootylicious” was exceptional.

 

Coldplay’s first 3 albums are sublime and the next couple were good, so I could easily have voted for them on the strength of that. It’s just their recent material has been so bland it’s really quite off-putting. Favourites are “The Scientist”, “Viva La Vida” and “Talk”.

 

Great to have all my top 3 still to come, which those who know me well won’t find it too hard to work out.
