After being apart of his group The Neptunes, Pharrell dropped his debut single 'Frontin' with Jay Z featuring in 03 and peaked at 6. According to Pharrell it was supposed to be a one off single as he was still mainly a producer at this point but ended up releasing his debut album in 2006. The drum beat is influenced by The Beatles track 'In My Life'.
