November 9, 2024Nov 9 Author City were so good in that 1st half - should have been three nil up. Mad how Brighton switched things about and completely dominated though. They certainly can't control anything like they can without Rodri.. makes for an interesting season!
November 9, 2024Nov 9 Author Makes the game after the international break huge now 2 pts or 8 pts? Well, we both play a game before then so who knows

November 9, 2024Nov 9 If Arsenal lose to Chelsea tomorrow they will remain 10 points behind 1st place with an equal amount of games played. They can completely forget about the title if that happens.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Author If Arsenal lose to Chelsea tomorrow they will remain 10 points behind 1st place with an equal amount of games played. They can completely forget about the title if that happens. There's plenty of time still, two thirds of the season to go. They'd need lots of luck and to win their home games against the Top 6-7, they've played most of their toughest away games already though I think.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Well, we both play a game before then so who knows   for some reason I thought that they were our first game back!
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Liverpool have been my pick for the title because Salah is the only player above everybody else now that Rodri is out. Arsenal might have PTSD from the last few years and it could hold them back. Chelsea etc onwards just aren’t consistent teams and Man Utd are fighting for 10th
November 10, 2024Nov 10 All the gossip was that he was 100% leaving last season but seems as though he wanted to stay to have another crack at the title. Fair play to him, there's a lot of great players in the league but he's the only one who you can guarantee a 8 or 9/10 performance every game. Way more consistent that the likes of Haaland, Palmer & Saka.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 The season has to stop now. Brighton in the Champions League and Palace relegated.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Author Yeah it's pretty mad at the moment - all teams are taking points off each other, which probably does lend to the theory that 85-90 points might get you the title this year and probably seems likely those European places are well up for grabs this season as well. So close from 3rd to almost near the bottom! A good bit of form with a few wins then you're in the CL places for the time being.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Arsenal should have won but more dropped points. Looking good for Liverpool atm but still earllyish days

As it stands now Man Utd are only 4 points behind Chelsea in 3rd place, all it takes is a mini winning run of matches and you'll climb rapidly up the table with 27 more matches to play. Even before today the gap in points wasn't much but of course the media will never spin it that way, they'd rather just look at the position in the table as if it's set in stone in October/November.

Well it's all narratives and hyperbole isnt it  It's normal to lose games, was only when Pep came on that the bar was raised so high. It used to be if a team managed to put together a winning run of 9-10 agmes at any point during the season they'd probably win the league. 10 games is usually when you can tell what's happening. Everything seems so open at the moment, but something is definitely not quite right with City. Maybe Pep might fix it like he did in 2020/2021.. but he also got a great big of luck that season too!
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Man City I suspect will go on their winning streaks sometime soon. Already had it. Walker is 34 De Bruyne is 33 and injury prone Gündoğan 34 wasn’t wanted by Barca Sold Alvarez and didn’t replace him Rodri out for the season Stones is a part-time player these days They probably have ambition and psychology issues too this year. I’m almost certain they won’t win anything this year

I’m almost certain they won’t win anything this year They'll come back, they always do, but it does very much seem like the end of the Pep era as he probably recognises a bit of a rebuild is needed and some of the players bought for big money (Nunes, Phillips) haven't really taken off. Watching Gundogan and Kovacic in that second half against Brighton did really give me Henderson and Fabinho cliff vibes in 2022/2023
November 11, 2024Nov 11 Only 11 games in and it's 100% already a 2 horse race. Arsenal have absolutely no chance. They couldn't win the league with a 10 point advantage, never mind a 10 point deficit. Plus they've been shocking ever since conceding that last minute goal to City. Noone else is even worth considering. This season has all the hallmarks of 2018/19 and 2021/22 although the points totals will be notably lower. Edited November 11, 2024Nov 11 by Dobbo
November 11, 2024Nov 11 All this talk now is pointless in my view. It's at the business end of the season where it all happens and City play their game.
