The first second round match sees Switzerland take on the reigning champions Italy who scored a last-gasp equaliser to knock out Croatia in their group. This taking place in Olympiastadion, Berlin.

How do we see this one going?

Last Four Meetings:

12/11/2021- Italy 1-1 Switzerland (World Cup Qualifying)

05/09/2021- Switzerland 0-0 Italy (World Cup Qualifying)

16/06/2021- Italy 3-0 Switzerland (Euros)

05/06/2010- Switzerland 1-1 Italy (Friendly)

Yeah if there's one thing Italy love its playing for penalties but they'll be aware that the Swiss knocked out the favourites France on pens at the last Euros.
Switzerland have always threatened to go deep into tournaments but fail to do it when the knockout come calling. Was surprised they beat France in the World Cup but then of course fell in the next game!

Wasn't it the Euros they beat France at? Got hammered by Portugal at the World Cup!!

This isn't the most exciting game there's ever been so far. Needs a goal to liven things up.

Yes it was the Euros where they beat France on penalties and in the 2022 World Cup they lost 6-1 to Portugal.

Italys last knockout round game in the World Cup was also in this stadium.

That was the 2006 World Cup final where they beat France on penalties. Also the match where Zinedine Zidane got sent off for headbutting Marco Materazzi.

Italy were awful in the first half vs Croatia too so I wouldn’t rule them out yet but that first half was so one sided. Switzerland made it look easy. Will be a tough game for England for sure but very beatable
