The fifth last 16 match sees a repeat of the 2018 World Cup semi-final where France take on Belgium, France haven't really lived up to expectations with scraping a win against Austria, a bore draw against Netherlands and a draw against Poland, for Belgium they were fortunate to go through with all teams in their group all finishing on 4pts, they suffered a shock defeat to Slovakia in their first game, a solid win against Romania and were fortunate against Ukraine. The match will be taking place at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf.

How do we see this one going?

Last Four Meetings:

07/10/2021- Belgium 2-3 France (Nations League)

10/07/2018- France 1-0 Belgium (World Cup)

07/06/2015- France 3-4 Belgium (Friendly)

14/08/2013- Belgium 0-0 France (Friendly)

Belgium's golden generation fail to deliver once again. They seem to be at #1 or near there in the FIFA World Rankings all the time for some reason

Most of the gold generation ain't even there anymore  That was in 2018

Belgium just seem to not have a cohesive unit golden generation or not!

France were desperately poor going forward yesterday. reminiscent of England in the group stages. but they got the result which is all that matters.

can’t see them getting anywhere near winning the tournament but you never know

France can still win, Portugal have been even worse this tournament. Their biggest challenge will be the semi match but they seem to up their game just enough when they need to.

Italy were far from great at the last euros, needed extra time to beat Austria, then won the semi and the final on pens. Portugal as we all know only won one game all tournament in normal time. All Spain ever did in their imperial phase was dominate possession and win 1-0 every game (2012 final the obvious exception). And going further back, winning 1-0 worked every match for the Greek miracle too.
