Biography

L.A.’s rap landscape in the 2010s was irrevocably changed by Mustard and his arsenal of gut-punching beats. The innovative producer, born Dijon Isaiah McFarlane in 1990, first gained renown by bringing the minimal percussive jangle of the Jerkin' movement to the mainstream in 2011 with the regional Tyga hit “Rack City.” Mustard spread his signature blend of ice-cold synths and pummeling bass onto the national stage by linking up with two Atlanta rappers, 2 Chainz for 2012’s “I’m Different” and T.I. for 2014’s “No Mediocre.” But Mustard returned to his L.A. roots that year when he handled a majority of the production on YG’s Bompton classic, My Krazy Life. With a nearly telepathic connection between MC and producer, YG and Mustard worked methodically in the studio to develop a G-funk revival subgenre. Since Mustard had by then become synonymous with a more minimal production style, he surprised fans by pushing his sound ever closer to his collaborators’ on 2019’s Perfect Ten. The Migos-featuring “Pure Water” blends West Coast hedonism with ATL swagger, and on the Future-assisted “Interstate 10,” Mustard provides the molasses-thick beat Future so often raps over to emphasize the latter’s penchant for sipping cough syrup while recording. Mustard continues to explore how far he can push his style without entirely abandoning his City of Angels roots. “I want to do something that people think I can’t,” he explained to Apple Music. “...But I still love to give my fans that ratchet shit, too. I know that stuff like the back of my hand.” - Apple Music

Biography

Armed with a mesmerizing, nimble soprano—and a vocal register often likened to Mariah Carey’s and Christina Aguilera’s—Ariana Grande began her career as a child star on Broadway and Nickelodeon before transforming into a pop and R&B powerhouse. Instantly recognizable thanks to her signature ponytail, cat ears, babydoll dresses, and breezy self-confidence, her slyly sexual personal brand has, like that of the Spice Girls before her, become an iconic image of young female power. But Grande is more than a symbol: Over the course of several albums and scores of hit singles—beginning with 2013’s “The Way” (featuring Mac Miler) through The Weeknd-assisted “Love Me Harder” and “Break Free” (featuring Zedd)—she has consistently outshined her male collaborators and deftly parlayed her stardom into activism. An LGBTQ advocate and outspoken feminist (“I’m tired of living in a world where women are mostly referred to as a man’s past, present, or future PROPERTY,” she tweeted in 2016), she uses her platform to confront issues like misogyny, sexism, homophobia, and bullying, spreading a message of love over all. Nowhere was this more clear than in May 2017: After terrorists attacked her concert in Manchester, England, killing 22 and injuring hundreds, Grande continued her tour. "Perspective changes your life,” she told Beats 1’s Ebro Darden. "You want to stay in the moment and try not to give into fear, because obviously the whole point of finishing the tour was being there for my fans. You want to set the same example and keep going.” And that she did: Her Max Martin-produced smash “No Tears Left to Cry,” an escapist dance-floor triumph released a year after the attack, sends a message of hope and healing, with a dose of hear-me-roar attitude. - Apple Music

this is kindz meh tbh, one of my least faves from eternal sunshine, i wished it was bye or eternal sunshine being pushed instead
first time hearing this, cannot hear the brandy & monica sample? thought it was subtle but there somewhere
Good to see TBIM enterring - shame it didn't get a decent peak during the album release, but was stuck behind the big 3.

'The Boy Is Mine'

I originally got nothing really from this song but it has grown to be one of my fav songs from 'eternal sunshine'! It sounds brilliant in the sun as well :D
