Oh no

Ooh and Doc Luke back!!! Witness had bops; she just released the wrong ones. Harleys in Hawaiis woulda been a hit, had she managed Prism throigh to Smile correctly too. She doesn't need him!

Certainly not going to be listening to any leaks but I can’t help but feel deflated about the Dr Luke thing. Was hoping it would all just be rumours but every last bit of hype will be dragged kicking and screaming away from this release if it’s true.

Sigh sigh sigh. WHY KATY?!

Her and her team are an absolute mess for working with him. They probably saw a few other girls get hits with him and jumped on the “it’s fine to work with him again” wagon.

But people are always extra ready to pounce on Katy, whatever she does so she needs to be way more careful. Working with Dr Luke was such an obvious misstep and I’ve watched so much of the hype flip back round on her in the past few hours, how could they not have seen this coming?

Not that I'm going to act holier than thou, because I've been stanning Kim Petras's whole career, seen her live many many times and I'll still be excited for this, it's just... this is avoidable and the stupidest thing that she could do just when it felt like hype was on her side for the first time in about a decade.

I just saw it on X so don't know how valid it is, but interesting regardless.

The song being an Ava Max reject could be true considering she had the theme very visible in 2021 (see her IG for instance) - it's too much of a coincidence. The Dr. Puke involvement - we just have to wait and see I guess.

But whether one or both of these are true, it's not really good for her comeback. I could live with a mediocre "Ava Max reject" but not with Dr. Puke's involvement. That would be just tone-deaf and incredibly upsetting.

The clip sounds horrendous and I have absolutely 0 respect for her working with Dr Luke, there is no excuse. I don’t think this will be the big comeback she’s hoping for if that’s the material she’s working with.

I just feel super disappointed in her too really, as has been said she had some hype around her and it did feel like the tides were turning after she’d be gone for a while and has had a couple of disappointing eras commercially at this point, yet she chooses to just work with an abuser which is going to have her usual bad press now (for a reason this time).

Surely Dr Luke wouldn't have the audacity to attach his name to a song called Woman's World? That's just asking for all sorts of cancellation.

I mean he did Slutpop and Slutpop 2.

Doja and Kim (Sza, Latto, Mariah all jumped on songs with him too) worked with him while his case was still open with the court, which I do personally think is worse than waiting until it's closed and Kesha is now free. Obviously overall I really wish she wasn't working with him, I feel like she has access to so many great writers and producers, so working with him seems so misguided. Oh Katy...

I don't get the issue here. Dr Luke wasn't actually convicted of anything (rightly or wrongly, us from the outside will never know unless we see otherwise), and I'm pretty sure Katy has said things alluding to not having experienced any of the allegations*. Why would she choose not to work with him based on one person's experience, when she hasn't experienced the same thing herself despite working with him ALOT?

He was never convicted: for all we know, Kesha could have exaggerated the truth as a way out of her record deal... We have no way of knowing that at the moment.

Maybe I've missed something? Rob (don't wanna single you out, and I think that the intention of your post is more around the choice being misguided, rather than a dig at Katy for working with him) has even said he happily stans Kim Petras who is literally always working with him. I just don't get it. Katy is being dragged for working with him, others are being let off... It just makes no sense to me lol

Either way, the tiktok clip sounds horrendous! That's the reason my hype has flattened!

* I could be wildly wrong and making this up, but I'm sure I read something at some point.

The Dr Luke rumours have been circling for months and I'm gonna be so disappointed if they're true. I personally skip any Kim Petras song or any of his productions for Doja and if this turns out to have his involvement I won't be giving it the benefit of a stream either.

I wanted to be so here for a Katy comeback but the snippet does sound weak - it's giving that clichéd kind of "she's so cool, she's so smart, sometimes she's a bit sad but she loves dancing" songwriting that's found on Can't Tame Her (Zara) and Million Dollar Baby (Ava) among others. Hoping to be proven wrong about all of this but it'll be a real shame if she can't recapture the magic of her earlier singles with all the public goodwill atm :(

Katy Perry worked with some of the producers who helped craft hits on Teenage Dream and Prism, Rolling Stone has learned. The pop singer reconnected with Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Stargate, and several others for KP6, the informal name for her first album in more than four years.

“Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen,” a Capitol Records source confirms to Rolling Stone. “And that includes previous collaborators including Luke, Stargate, Max Martin, and Sarah Hudson, and some new heavy hitters such as Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Valdes, and Theron Thomas.”

But at least she understanda KP6, like LG6, are just unofficial titles and would sound cheesy and self indulgent af as an ACTUAL album name!!
