Happy for Kylie, another #1 in the bag!

Those streaming sales/position are hard to ignore though, especially considering the album was clearly aimed to please the streaming market.

Kylie has had great success with BMG, but I do wish she would close the chapter with them after this and resign with a major label.

Nice spread of figures. Good promo for the tour tickets and hopefully the tour effect will boost streaming and sales over the coming months.
Its crazy that Kylie has achieved the same amount of number 1 albums in the last 6 years as she did in the first 30 years of her career.

She’s had more #1s with BMG than with any other label in her career - aside from them buying chart places on placelists to artificially inflate her sales there’s not much more a major label could offer her.

She’s better off with BMG who focus on her as one of their main acts, a major would drop her if they didn’t get the results they wanted.

I see Tension II has shown up at 149 on the Spotify UK Album streaming chart..........

Do we know any other chart positions in Europe ?
Great result in the UK.

I am a little disappointed with its number 8 Irish debut though.

Hence no tour date in Ireland 😂😂

I think she will be fine in week 2.

I mean nothing ground breaking but I think top 40 maybe top 30, maybe higher if she uses some price offers etc

Hoping BMG release a deluxe edition to boost sales in Q4 market.
The signed print is gorgeous!!!

5 consecutive No1 albums, 3 gold, one due to go gold soonish.

It’s a 50/50 profit/cost split with BMG.

More creative control, pumping out new fan favourites with every album.

Fans get 7”, cd & cassette for each single.

Her legend status remains.

Stick with BMG Kyles!

I think she should now leave BMG. Tension I and II shows, they clearly no longer know how to correctly promote her.

She has major supply issues for albums outside UK and Australia.

Plus she has suffered with very bad playlisting in Spotify, even in NMF lists.

Do not get me wrong, BMG have done wonders for her to reinstate her status as a legend. But they have been sloppy in the last two eras. If she was in a major label, PP would be a worldwide hit.

Plus let's not forget the amazing job they've done building her profile in the current climate for a "legacy" artist, which is pretty much unprecedented.

I don't honestly see what more a major label could do for her.

I’d be concerned if Kylie left BMG.

Sure. I don’t understand why releases are not always very synced up to maximise chart position on the first week. But I guess there may be manufacture and logistical reasons. And chart positions don’t indicate quality these days.

But other than that, I think they’ve done her absolutely proud. The music has moved in a really organic direction. Kylie is developing more than other artists at a similar stage of their career.

Well she is an independent artist through Darenote. She uses BMG for distribution purposes

I agree here. Also, as we’ve seen with a lot of artists (the little mix girls come to mind, with their solo songs which were also decent enough pop songs), a paid top placing on NMF and radio A list doesn’t seem to help much. Unless you’re a Taylor or Sabrina, and let’s be honest - Kylie can never reach that level now.

I’d rather she be top priority wirh a smaller label than another small fish in a big label.

Isn’t that why she split from Rocnation also, after the KMO fiasco?

I would agree that Kylie is obviously a priority at BMG, as arguably their biggest artist. However, it’s clear everything is done on a shoestring budget to maximise profit for BMG & Kylie.

Kylie’s art direction nose dived after Kiss Me Once, DISCO and Tension album covers were terrible, the production on most of Golden and DISCO was bad. We only get 2 music videos for the albums. Vinyl and CD packaging is poor. I just feel like Kylie needs a fresh team of creatives around her, new ideas and inspiration.
