Charlotte Dujardin, Britain's joint-most decorated female Olympian, has pulled out of Paris 2024 after a video emerged showing her "making an error of judgement".

 

The six-time dressage medallist said she is under investigation from the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) and will "withdraw from all competition while this process takes place".

I watched a package on BBC News just yesterday about how she was gearing up to become Team GB's most decorated female Olympian, after currently being tied. What a difference a day makes, eek, hadn't seen anything about a video anywhere until that BBC News article popped up on my phone.

I think it is a good job that the video hasn't emerged, as I don't think want to see what the context of the video is. Indeed what an difference a day makes.

I mean it's a bit difficult to have a meaningful discussion of this without either actually seeing the video or having a description of what's contained in the video.

 

Hate when the press witch-hunt people without any more context. Unless this falls into the it must be the videos so bad it can't be shared on social media?

Sounds like she hit the horse with something in training as a method of training. No real sympathy for her

All sounds like scary stuff, seems like she's made the right decision to step away at least whatever's happened.

Doesn't seem like that's an isolated incident if it's from around the last Olympics and apparently from two and a half years ago so I fear that's not 'out of character'. Good riddance indeed.

Yeah 100% not an error of judgment nor out of character at all, she just finally got exposed.

To be honest I imagine it’s not uncommon in that field. Not a fan of the sport for that reason

Good to see GB win its first gold medal of the games in the team eventing and it was very comfortable, way ahead of the 2nd placed team.

Hooray GB finally on the board for gold medals, jumping up to 7th on the medal table with that. Seems like it should have been by an even more comfortable margin but had a controversial penalty in the cross-country.

Laura Collett wins bronze in the individual event at the equestrian, she jumped a clear round. Just 1.3 on penalties between the Top 3. Gold for Germany's Michael Jung. When it comes back to the show jumping gosh it can be nerve-wrecking to watch yet alone take part in it.

Am I understanding right that Collett's run in the team event also counted to the individual scoring and she would have got gold if not for hitting the final fence there then? Shame if so, we had enough of a lead for the team for it to not matter to that of course but was thinking that could bite her personally. Nice at two medals in a day for her nonetheless.

A gold medal for GB in the team show jumping. It's quite a tense sport to watch, not decided until the last fence was jumped.
