November 27, 20214 yr Yeah I wasn't sure if impact dates are still a thing and whether R2 still go by them. I just assumed it was an official single since it has a video. I'm sure they still do impact dates, if only to signal to radio stations what the official single is and when it's being promoted. I'd imagine for the Jessie Ware song they might have set it in January. There's also the Gloria Gaynor song that also has a video filmed I think.
December 3, 20214 yr A check of BBC Sounds shows that on the 1st December (the first day when Xmas songs really start getting spins) Radio 1 played a total of 7 Xmas songs and Radio 2 played a total of 52 😂. Quite the contrast!

Especially Kelly & Ariana, Sheridan Smith *.*, I even like the ABBA one when I checked it out this morning. Not sure why Overpass Graffiti is being kept for a joint playlist spot as it probably won't get played at all :kink:

I've said it a couple of times now but I definitely think Radio 2's daytime playlist is much more accessible than it used to be and caters to a wider audience then just aging adults these days

Interesting interview with him here: https://www.musicweek.com/media/read/radio-...-station/075135 I'm nowhere near old enough that I should think their better if their after the 35-54 audience then!! :rolleyes: That said at my mid-twenties, I'm probably hitting the point where Radio 1 is becoming way too much 'for the kids' for my liking despite still being in the 16-29 age bracket they supposedly target.
