Well I’m sure he was never away but he had no reach kicked off YouTube and twitter etc but Elon allowed him back and these kind of incidents is where he always gets a huge profile and talks a good game for certain people. I fully second this. I very much expect this will all calm down soon, the families can grieve in peace and the fascist scum will go back to hiding under a rock until next time. The perpetrator will be news for his 15 minutes before the wider public forgets his name like they have Lee Rigby's killer.

 

This isn't any great escalation or start of a race war, this is just British society playing out its worst aspects in the same way it has done for decades. Sadly both the ANL and AFA are both now defunct, and they were very effective organisations back in the 70/80s and 90s but if people want to do something positive about things Hope Not Hate is worth looking at.

The BBC made it a keynote to mention he was diagnosed with autism the Guardian alluded to this yesterday but then edited the article to remove it so evidently those in the know were briefing journalists certain theories or knowledge. Appears to be no clear motive at this stage other than potentially an angry reclusive loner maybe mad at the country or the world or his predicament exacerbated by mental health issues who went on a mindless rampage. It might sadly be that pointless not that any other motive would be better.

That's the thing, it could be any reason, something as simple as him not liking Taylor Swift/her fan base or it could have just been a case of him knowing there would be a lot of kids in the one place at a certain time. We might never know the real motive, not that it would make it any easier to understand if we did, there's no justification.

 

I think it's dangerous for them to put in the media that he was autistic as that's pretty much asking for negative stigma to be attached to something that's already largely misunderstood. It could also be seen as an attempt to excuse his actions which would be wrong as well, as I say there's nothing that could make what he did even slightly comprehensible, mental health etc included.

The misinformation, conspiracy and subsequent rioting was a further disturbing development when it should've been a time for families to grieve in peace. I hate that the current era of social media fuels hate speech and misinformation even more, actively rewarding engagement with algorithmic influence or financial gain and this avenue is unfortunately such an easy way to provoke a reaction.

The easy thing to say would be that he might have had incel tendencies, given he seemed to target girls, but I don't think it helps to speculate.

 

I hope that he, and those who incited and took part in the riots, are dealt with.

Given the seriousness of this crime, I suspect the name will be made public immediately after any conviction.

 

The right-wing protesters are showing a complete lack of respect for the poor families who have each lost a young child. I can’t help wondering whether some loon just made up a name and background as a deliberately provocative act.

 

It’s the summer there’s warm weather, they clearly just wanted a fight with the police and couldn’t care less about the tragedy!

It's a very specific demographic. I stand by what I say when I said it was people looking for a fight.

You insinuated that because the football season isn’t on they must be linked hence why you must believe football fans get on like this, it’s generalising a huge group!

I mean it's not school kids out rioting in the streets or the Facebook wine mum's scrapping while they top up their tan... football fans have a reputation for being violent, it's fact that violent crime rates go up when there's certain matches on, obviously not all fans but it is a prominent part of UK football culture, when the evidence is there it's not a generalisation really. Matches aren't on at the moment so these types of individuals are likely to look for another excuse to behave like animals.

Maybe it does come into it but at the end of the day, these types of people have become a growing issue pretty much since Brexit and have been dogwhistled in by certain right wing politicians for years. This is extremely high profile as it’s raw and we’re still getting to grips with the deaths and injuries of those poor girls but this is just the latest thing for these little Englanders to use as an excuse to behave poorly, damage property and frighten/injure minority groups.
