  • (kicks @Brer )

I don't mind this being moved to the International Charts forum, I just put it here because that's where these threads have been for the previous sessions. I suppose everyone should now know it exists so just don't forget it's been moved now x
Thanks Bray! That makes sense, I didn't mean to be quite that harsh about it.

Actually I'm hoping to join some of these although I would only make it for the last hour or so.

So this will be going ahead tomorrow at 4pm, save the link in case the site goes down again xx

Queued 2 additional Sabrina Carpenter bonus songs now (joy xo) and I hadn't planned to do any RIP slots last week unless someone suggested one but I suppose we'd better play some Fatman Scoop tomorrow now </3 (shall I just queue 'Be Faithful' or does anyone have a favourite other Scoop song? x)

“Be Faithful” is a good shout but my all time fave would be his feature on “Lose Control”

He did a Teddy Swims cover?

To avoid repeats, we could always play his one other top 10 hit, It Takes Scoop (not actually heard it myself mind so you can see how that sounds x)

I’d rather just have Be Faithful again, the other hit wasn’t half as good

prayers for Buzzjacks servers this afternoon

Yeah let’s have Be Faithful - it’s been a while since the #1 sessions tbf.

Are we having Sven Sven Sven too?

I think I'll put up a thread to vote for our fave #1s shortly and just leave it as open nominations rather than semi-arbitrarily whittling it down to ~10 options, will see how that works x

Continuing tomorrow from 4pm with the next 46 #1s, taking us from May 1962 to mid August 1964. Note it's a shorter session this week as I am going out with my family a little after 7pm so need to wrap up before then - will just be playing 2 hours of #1s plus bonus tracks. I'll play the 2nd most streamed track from 'Definitely Maybe' to mark its return to #1, of course we had 'Live Forever' in the #1 albums sessions already but I did always play additional songs for albums returning to #1 in new runs.

There are only 23 eligible bonus #2s this time (compared to 41 last week) but I know way more of them this time so I can nominate myself this week! As before please nominate up to 3 faves from the list x

Allan Sherman - Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh! (A Letter From Camp)

Andy Williams - Can't Get Used To Losing You

The Beatles - Do You Want To Know A Secret

The Beatles - Twist And Shout

Chubby Checker - Limbo Rock

Dee Dee Sharp - Mashed Potato Time

Dion - Ruby Baby

Elvis Presley - Return To Sender

Gene Pitney - Only Love Can Break A Heart

The Jaynetts - Sally Go 'Round The Roses

Johnny Rivers - Memphis

The Kingsmen - Louie Louie

Lesley Gore - You Don't Own Me

Millie Small - My Boy Lollipop

Nat King Cole - Ramblin' Rose

The Orlons - The Wah-Watusi

Peter, Paul And Mary - Blowin' In The Wind

Peter, Paul And Mary - Puff, The Magic Dragon

Ray Charles - You Don't Know Me

The Ronettes - Be My Baby

Skeeter Davis - The End Of The World

The Surfaris - Wipe Out

The Village Stompers - Washington Square

My nominations:

The Kingsmen - Louie Louie

The Ronettes - Be My Baby

The Surfaris - Wipe Out

(also I know it won't be to the taste of many who attend but I feel I should queue a RIP slot for Rich Homie Quan - and I've also just seen now that Sérgio Mendes died on the same day so a play for 'Mas Que Nada' as well? Don't think I recognise any other notable musical deaths of the week but open to suggestions for any further RIP slots as ever x)

+ if anyone hasn't already please do lock in your picks for the best & worst #1s of last week's session x

I'll try to join for that one specific song.

Not nominating yet because I know zero songs from here

I don't think RHQ had many verses here, but I'll nominate Ride Out (from Furious 7) for the RIP slot.

Edited by CowTzy

The Beatles - Twist And Shout

The Kingsmen - Louie Louie

The Ronettes - Be My Baby

Herbie Flowers has died aged 86. He was a member of Blue Mink and, briefly, T Rex as well as Sky. We can probably ignore the fact that he wrote Grandad as it would be more appropriate to use the RIP slot to play what is probably his most famous contribution to music. He played the bassline on Lou Reed's Walk On The Wild Side.
