Playlist prepared for tomorrow, and here's this week's selection of #2s...

10cc - I'm Not In Love

Barry White - You're The First, The Last, My Everything

Donna Summer - Love To Love You Baby

Eagles - Lyin' Eyes

Eric Carmen - All By Myself

Linda Ronstadt - When Will I Be Loved

The Three Degrees - When Will I See You Again

Somehow an even more anaemic list than last week oops, I didn't anticipate this would be such an issue! Well at least it is mostly pretty well known songs there, still managed 3 songs I'm happy to nominate even from a field of only 7 songs :magic:

10cc - I'm Not In Love

Donna Summer - Love To Love You Baby

Eric Carmen - All By Myself

Wow, the US charts of the mid-70s were even more efficient at creating #1s than the UK charts of 2000!

10cc - I'm Not In Love

Donna Summer - Love To Love You Baby

Eagles - Lyin' Eyes

Not sure how much I’ll be around today.

10cc - I'm Not In Love

Barry White - You're The First, The Last, My Everything

The Three Degrees - When Will I See You Again

10cc - I'm Not In Love

Barry White - You're The First, The Last, My Everything

Donna Summer - Love To Love You Baby

10cc - I'm Not In Love

Donna Summer - Love To Love You Baby

Eric Carmen - All By Myself

RIP:

For Peter Sinfield, can we have 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson

why there were so many #1s, mostly just for 1 week, the turn over is insane

seems kinda artificial to me, was it cos of airplay?

Next batch is prepared now.

Good news: it is a longer list of eligible #2s this year. Bad news: literally what are any of these songs? The only one I know (from the title) I am not a fan of so I'll just remain neutral, good luck everyone else picking something from here (maybe there are some good songs I'm just not familiar with x).

England Dan & John Ford Coley - I'd Really Love To See You Tonight

The Floaters - Float On

Gary Wright - Dream Weaver

Gary Wright - Love Is Alive

Gordon Lightfoot - The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald

Lou Rawls - You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine

Maxine Nightingale - Right Back Where We Started From

Peter Frampton - I'm In You

Rita Coolidge - (Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher And Higher

Silver Convention - Get Up And Boogie

The Spinners - The Rubberband Man

Steve Miller Band - Fly Like An Eagle

Looking at the list of deaths for the week I see the composer of 'Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien' died on Monday so I might give that a play (as averse as I am to Fr*nch songs, that is a classic x). Nothing else jumping out at me so open to any other suggestions.

Get Right Back I'm guessing is the Sinitta cover :D

The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is a classic

Otherwise a poor list indeed so that is my sole nomination

The Gordon Lightfoot song sounds interesting so I'll give that a vote. The Maxine Nightingale and Steve Miller Band songs are just OK. Don't remember anything else, bar The Floaters but I'll pass on them.

Silver Convention - Get Up And Boogie

The Spinners - The Rubberband Man

Steve Miller Band - Fly Like An Eagle

I think you will all recognise The Rubberband Man when you hear it if it gets enough votes to be played.

Gordon Lightfoot - The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald

Steve Miller Band - Fly Like An Eagle

The Gordon Lightfoot song was played in the RIP slot in May last year at my request. Several people who hadn't heard it before liked it.
